About this listen

Adam

I've got it bad for my best friend, but he's only had eyes for my sister since we were kids. I don't know what I'll do if they hook up - especially after a drunken kiss West doesn't seem to remember. Seeing them together just might kill me, so why I offer to help him hone his dating skills, I'll never know. FML.

West

Ever since a drunken kiss we haven't talked about, I've been seeing Adam in a new light. Trouble is, he thinks I want his sister. This whole bisexual awakening thing is scary, and I don't want to risk our friendship by moving too fast. But when Adam mocks my dating skills, I come up with a genius plan: Five Fake Dates. Adam thinks he's helping me, and I get to test the waters without risking our friendship. Win-win!

A few fake dates, increasingly real kisses, and a tiny deception between friends. What could go wrong?

Five Fake Dates was originally written for a promotional giveaway to fans. It has been expanded to approximately 27,000 words and now has a little more spice and a bonus epilogue with HEA!

Fake dates, real feelings.

This book is unusual in that it falls into the gfy or bi-awakening trope, but doesn't come with all the usual angst. It is a refreshing take on college age friends to lovers, with lots of laughs thrown in along the way.

The characters were funny and well-rounded and the fake dates were equal parts triumph and disaster.

The narration by Darcy Stark was brilliant and both MCs had very distinctive voices.

A fun, romantic story :)

Such a fun story!
Adam and West (did anyone run those names together? Just me?) have been friends for a while. West has a crush on Adam's sister - or so it seems - and Adam has a crush on West. When West realises that maybe he may actually prefer Adam, he cooks up an excuse to have Adam show him what it's like to properly date someone. What follows are some fun, cute and some steamy times for the MCs.
An easy story to enjoy, even more so with Darcy Stark narrating. It was easy to distinguish between the characters and he had a good pace. Really enjoyed listening.

So sweet!💕

I absolutely loved this!
It's so sweet and beautiful and cute.
Adam has been in love with his best friend,West, since forever but,has had to stand by and watch him try and impress his sister Hannah. He knows they are never going to be together,so,he makes up his mind to be his friend forever instead.
One night changes everything!
One drunken kiss that sparked emotions and awoke feelings in West that scared him.
They both claim they can't remember it,but West hatches a brilliant plan that, should it work, just might get him who he really wants.
I highly recommend you dive in to find out if the plan West comes up with works out.
This is the first Audiobook I have listened to with Darcy Stark narrating and I must say that he has done a brilliant job of bringing these characters to life 💕

A delightful friends to lovers story

This is a short but lovely NA friends to lovers tale. We hear both points of view as West and Adam practise dating in a delightful ploy designed by West to prepare him for dating Adam’s sister. There’s a nice mix of banter and more serious moments as the romance develops between the guys.

Darcy Stark is a new narrator for me. I thought he did a great job with this story and in presenting the two main characters. His narration is clear and steady, with plenty of expression, making it a pleasure to listen.

Super cute and sweet

This was kind of adorable. Really young sweet college age friends to lovers. I have a special weakness for friends to lovers and loved getting to see their relationship unfold. The author did a great job of making use of the novella length to really develop their connection and story. I loved both guys and this was such a great feel good romance.

Perfect afternoon pick me up.

Light and pleasant teen romance!

Teenager, West, was smitten with his gay best friend’s sister, but is now struggling with feelings for his best friend. He decides to ‘road-test’ their compatibility by taking an unaware Adam on five fake dates, under the guise of learning tips from Adam about how to woo his sister. Although the premise was flimsy, this was very light and pleasant with almost zero-angst. I liked West and Adam and I wanted them to succeed, it was great to get their dual points of view. A few more twists and turns and a much fuller exploration of the homophobia West experiences at home would easily have earned the extra star. 🎧 I enjoyed Darcy Stark’s narration and I’m looking forward to more from him.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B
