About this listen

Freehaven Online is more than a game to Justine. By day, she creates monsters for the world, by night she's raiding dungeons. Most importantly, it's her one connection to her dead brother whose buffs still linger within the game.

When his virtual shrine is threatened by an update, Justine reforges his guild to complete the Dragonsbane quest in his honor. As an experienced tank, she's no stranger to the bandit attacks, PvP combat, and dragons Freehaven will throw at her.

Little does she know, a hacker organization known as Archangel tampers with the update, leaving thousands of players, including Justine, stranded in full immersion virtual reality. As if that weren't strange enough, NPCs are getting smarter, and some marooned players don't want to escape. They're ready to jump at the chance for virtual immortality.

Justine must temper the fervent emotions stirring in her guild and unite them to complete the quest. If she doesn't, friends will break from sanity, and others will die in real life.

What a great concept

This is a great story that Jun wrote . It took a lot of imagination and detail . Jun wrote a story full of action and mystery . Jun took the time to explain how the game in the story flows . The main character is a female heroine.
Amy Landon performance was great. She voice is perfect for a Litlpg . Amy voice is smooth and strong

Interesting ideas and great start to a series

Really enjoyed the world building. I liked the concept of a mash up of two different games and it was nice to see elements from both.

There’s a nice mix of in game and out of game towards the beginning which enjoyed. It’ll be nice to see more out of game consequences later in the series.

The characters were interesting and relatable. I enjoyed the attention to detail that went into the main characters background.

I liked the narration and found Amy to do a good job providing varied character voices. Never felt like I didn’t know who was speaking.

narrator lets it down

I couldn't even get past chapter 6. sorry to say the narrator is so monotone, it's like a painful droning, sorry to say. I'm not going to finish it.
im sure the book is a good though.

I'm no critic, I could not do a better of narration. it's just my opinion..

Overall good listen

I haven’t listened to many litrpg genre books, and am just getting into them so I am not a harsh critic and am fairly open and easy when listening to books, but I did overall enjoy this book and story and am looking forward to continuing the story. This for me is good as I don’t want to feel like each book is a completely different story, I like to feel as if it is just starting as you are left off and the ending of this book makes it easy to continue the series.
I liked the way you got a little bit of back story in the real world out of game and the focus of the MC job, living and family situation, I felt it help you connect with her. Learning the situations and background of a couple of the characters helped you to understand the thinking and actions .
For me, at the beginning the narrator felt a little robotic but as it continued it got smoother.
The only thing I found a bit repetitive was the use of he said she said, I may not find this as annoying if I was reading but as I am listening it did get a bit much at times.

Overall I am glad I gave this book a listen, and am keen to continue the series and follow the story.
Big thumbs up from me

A great story that never left kindergarden

Disclaimer: I'm about 2h into the book.

Interesting worldbuilding does not adjust for sub par writing unfortunately. To much "I said", "he said", "i thought" to make an interesting and engaging story. He's good at describing scenes and actions. (mostly) but conversations which makes up a good part of any book Is just jarring listening to.

I did like the narrator, she has a pleasant voice compared to other female narrators which I often find to high pitched to be pleasant, but that's taste.
She has some interesting accents and does a good job those few times the author forgets, and actually writes a fluid conversation, discerning between characters, thoughts etc. I hope she has narrated more books in my genre.
