Summary

On the toughest reality show on television, a killer is lurking out of shot.

Frozen Out is set to be a TV sensation. In the harshest Arctic conditions, eight contestants will push their bodies and minds to breaking point for a £100,000 prize—and, once the ship drops anchor in the pack ice, no chance of help from the outside world. The temperatures might be well below freezing, but the stakes couldn't be
higher.

And camerawoman Dee will be there to capture every second, all but invisible: just how she likes it. She has her own reasons for taking this job and the less attention she gets, the better.

But as rumours spread of corner-cutting and safety risks, tempers among the cast and crew start to fray. When one of the contestants is found dead, supposedly of a heart attack, it seems in keeping with the bad luck that has dogged the show. But Dee is not convinced this death was natural.

With a fierce storm approaching and a killer on board, the question now is not who will win the money. It's who will make it off the ship alive.

Packed with suspense from the first goes to the last, Freeze is a must-listen for fans of Shiver, The Sanatorium and One By One. This thriller isn't just chilling: it's sub-zero.

Incredible narration!

The different accents needed for the various characters, particularly the Scottish characters, was well performed by Hanako Footman. And her voice for Annabel was very cool. Cool story that lost me a small bit towards the end when everything started happening at once but the narration was top class for me!

Looking forward to more Footman narrations in future!

Hard to follow

I took this book out following a good review in the literary review. I think it might be better on the page rather than in the audio version – at least this audio version. The narrator has one voice, which, as the story is told from three points of view, Just doesn’t work. A lot of the time I wasn’t sure who I was listening to, and had to wait for clues in the text to figure out who was speaking. And her breathy delivery, with a faintly whining overtone, lost my sympathy for any of the characters who all seemed tiresome and self obsessed. All in all, a disappointment.

A good story ruined

I bought this book after reading the reviews in the Times. I should have bought the book, not the audible version!
A good thriller, with many twists and turns, was ruined by the dreadful narration. I couldn’t distinguish one character from another. If I got distracted I had to rewind just to work out who was ‘talking’. I have hundreds of titles in my audible library and most have had brilliant narrators but this one, up there with the worst. Can’t wait to return this title.
