Summary

The internationally beloved novel by dream literary collaborators and internationally bestselling writers, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Soon to be a massive new TV launch on Amazon Prime Video and the BBC, a series written and show-run by Neil himself and starring David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Jon Hamm and Miranda Richardson, to name but a few.

There is a hint of Armageddon in the air. According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (recorded, thankfully, in 1655, before she blew up her entire village and all its inhabitants, who had gathered to watch her burn), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact.

So the Armies of Good and Evil are massing, the four Bikers of the Apocalypse are revving up their mighty hogs and hitting the road, and the world's last two remaining witchfinders are getting ready to Fight the Good Fight. Atlantis is rising. Frogs are falling. Tempers are flaring, and everything appears to be going to Divine Plan.

Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not particularly looking forward to the coming Rapture. They've lived amongst Humanity for millennia, and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle. So if Crowley and Aziraphale are going to stop it from happening, they've got to find and kill the AntiChrist (which is a shame, really, as he's a nice kid). There's just one glitch: someone seems to have misplaced him.

Loved it

Fabulously twisted logic, well observed human behaviour. Heaven and hell are the teams and the game is absurd

amazingly good ineffable tale

A joy from beginning to end. Superbly told. Sometimes deep of meaning under the fun

Utterly brilliant

I read and loved this years ago, but wanted to refresh it in my kind before the tv show is released. I am ever so glad I did, as not only had I forgotten it totally, but I would have missed out on the fabulous narration by Martin Jarvis. One if those listens that leaves you adrift afterwards, wondering if anything will ever be as satisfying.

A wonderful reading of the splendid Good Omens

A book that spans the creation of the universe to Armageddon itself. Also the story of 4 very ordinary children having an idyllic summer.
Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett come together to write humour and satire with insite into the human condition and a good dash of irreverence.
wonderful characters I carry with me between rereads. Now I can listen as well!

delightfully human, delightfully wicked

A true testament of Gaiman's and the late Pratchett's ability to combine the true nature of humanity with the pomp of mysticism... all done in a beautiful celebration of British mundality. Moving, compelling and asking all the right questions.

Great collaboration, shame about the "Just William" narration. I would easily have awarded 5 stars otherwise.

A great idea , both intriguing and entertaining. Unfortunately did we ha e to have the ubiquitous Martin Jarvis for the narrator. I know it was middle England, but even half of the adult characters sounded as if they had stepped out of a Just William book!

Excellent story telling

I loved this story. The only drawback is the very long chapters!
Wonderful narration by Martin Jarvis.
