About this listen

A home burned. When past crimes resurface, Sir Alan Dale, loyal lieutenant of the Earl of Locksley - better known as the murderous thief Robin Hood - faces terrible vengeance at the hands of those that he and his master have wronged.

A family threatened. With his beloved wife on her deathbed, Sir Alan must seek salvation by following Robin into the lair of their enemy, the mysterious leader of a band of renegade Templars, on the trail of the most precious object in the world: the Holy Grail.

Only a miracle can save them. As vengeful Templars hound Robin and his men across England and France, deals done with mighty lords turn to bloody battle. The companions must find the Cup of Christ before they face certain destruction.

Myth, mayhem and masterly storytelling meet in the astounding new epic from the bestselling author of Outlaw and Holy Warrior.

"Angus Donald delivers rip-roaring novels that fling you headlong into the dark undercurrents of the medieval world, written in a taut and compelling style and seething with skulduggery. A master of adventure." (Robyn Young)

The Draw of the Grail!

The Holy Grail, a legendary object that drew people towards it with the myths about its extraordinary provenance and its magical powers for centuries. It, above all others, seems to have launched stories, quests and desperate attempts to claim it. It's not just proud knights and intrepid adventurers that it draws in though, even to this day it has a magnetic attraction to authors too and Donald seems to have been one of the latest to be sucked into its orbit.

So, here we have him throwing brave Sir Alan, the enigmatic Robin Odo aka Robin Hood and others thrown into their own Grail quest. It's a rare old adventure too and it maintains the standard set in the previous books as our intrepid heroes journey far and wide. There's the usual helping of action and even more hints of the magical with the company including a very surprising addition, is there a hint of redemption for one character in the air?

I'm loving this series. It's how to have great fun with historical fiction.

A cracking read

These books never fail to entertain. Filled with adventure, wonderful characters and history. These chronicals are consistently enjoyable. A word must be said for Mike Rogers, the actor reading these book. His reading is vibrant and full of energy and makes the characters real and distinctive.
