Summary

Greek Myths

This is a collection of fascinating facts, insights, and stories from Greek mythology. Some you may know well, as they have appeared in many different films and cartoons by the likes of Disney (Hercules) and Thunder Road Productions (Clash of the Titans) and others you would never have heard of before. Whether this is your first foray into Greek mythology or you are a seasoned history loving aficionado I am sure you will find something within this book that you can’t help but fall in love with. You will impress not only your family and friends but yourself too with what you will learn and to that end I say have a great time discovering more about the enthralling world of Greek mythology.

Egyptian Myths

This is a collection of fascinating facts, insights, and stories into the mystical and magical world of Egyptian mythology. From the Eye of Ra to mummification, you will no doubt find something juicy to sink your teeth into. Just be careful where you tread, the whole place is surrounded by booby traps set to go off should you stray from this book. Your only hope for salvation is waiting for you at the end but no short cuts may be taken lest you be cursed for all of eternity! Good luck.

Roman Myths

This is a collection of fascinating facts, insights, and stories into Roman mythology. Numerous Gods and tales of Roman mythology have their origins in Greek mythology; with slight adaptations in names, places, and the nitty gritty parts. For example, Hercules in Roman mythology is referred to as Heracles in Greek, so be sure to check out my other books, too.

Lacks some coherence

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Narration 9/10
The narration is ok. Due to the nature of the book can't really judge on any aspects of it, but it serves this Audiobook right.

Story 7/10
Not really much to tell about the story, It's pretty much facts from Greek, Egyptian and Roman mythology. But the whole thing lacks coherence and it's mostly fact after fact like a top 50 list. In my opinion facts could have been much better presented. Contextual facts and characters should have been put together, and presented in small stories.

Overall I'd suggest this to people who'd like to get a taste of mythology without spending a lot of time.

Tries too hard

The myths speak for themselves, so why interject banal humour in to the narrative. Talking about Egypt valley of the Kings - equated with Elvis - once or twice is OK, but they just keep coming. Well read but content is too interlaced with false comedy for me.

'Fun facts' intro to mythology

This collection of books is written in a 'fun facts' format, which offers a bare bones introduction to mythology which is a great way of developing a new interest. This includes introductions to all of the heavy hitters in the various pantheons and some of their exploits, as well as their relationship to one another (a whole loada incest), it was interesting and informative.

However, many of the facts include cringeworthy jokes added to engage the reader - some of these were fun in an oldschool off-colour joke kind of way, but some of the others were a little too outdated to be enjoyable (comparing the cow bodied goddess to the author's mother in law, and a menstrual joke comparing and Egyptian goddess to the author's partner),

I loved the narrator's work, his voice perfectly complemented the scholarly aspect of the books and managed to pass off a lot of the bad jokes as funny through tone alone.

not for me might be for you

I received this book free in exchange for a review. this is a brief telling of ancient storys with a snarky commentary, which is sometimes funny but other time misses the mark for me.

A delightful listen

I thoroughly enjoyed this 3 book box set of Greek, Egyptian and Roman Myths.

They are a wonderful incite into each cultures mythology and the reveal the numerous ways they are linked and entwined.

The narrator speaks clearly and delivers the content in the humorous way it is written, especially the many modern day references to the characters and also the exploits they got up to.

Each book is a delightfully easy going introduction into what can be quite deep subjects so, they are a perfect way to whet your appetite, leaving you with the desire to research and read more into the many Gods, characters and their amazing adventures .

I would love to see each book televised in a mini series.
