About this listen
As London goes up in flames during the Blitz, two sisters from Bermondsey find their lives changed out of all recognition....
When a bombing raid destroys nearly everything she holds dear, May joins the ATS and becomes a gunner girl. Peggy, May's elder sister, is trapped in a stifling marriage, yet amid the chaos of war, a route to freedom beckons. A lovely.....
love storyline during World War II even though it is fiction it could have happened all them years ago. The narrator was very good using different voices for the characters.

interesting. i have read a lot of historical novels based around war times but nothing that involved gunner girls. I didn't realise the dangers they experienced whilst trying to live their lives. good story ☺

The right mix
Once I got into this book I found I didn't want it to end, warm characters, brought to life by Anne's reading. Good mix of factual info about the Ats roles, the training & positions the girls took, combined with real likeable main characters. Favourites May, and Granny Byron, and favourite description - the fairy ring.
It would've been nice to have a sequel.
