An Enjoyable Story

A gentle love story set in an English village just after the second world war. What I liked about this story was the down-to-earth characters. The budding romance between the charismatic dashing American and the lonely dowdy woman kept me listening. Will they, won't they, get together? This story has twists and turns and a little sadness along the way. A truly lovely story.

all the ingredients for a great love story

both characters had powerful back stories which explained their motivations for conflict within their relationship. the hero was loveable and the heroine thankfully was intelligent and independent. the sub characters were very well developed and portrayed, leaving me wondering whether there might be a spin off featuring one of my favourite sub characters, May.

I loved the satisfying happy end and thought the fact that hannah got to live in her dream location was a lovely and clever touch.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
