About this listen
Top 100 international Amazon best seller
His world. His rules. My heart.
He’s a criminal with no conscience. The whisper of a name. A faceless stranger…a man content to dwell in the shadows of his underworld.
I’m the light to his dark: an investigative reporter intent on exposing dangerous men like him. We were worlds apart until I caught his attention. Now I’m his captive, kept at the whim of a devil with no kindness or morality.
I may be an innocent, but I have my secrets too. For years I’ve been fighting a private war with the illegal drugs trade, with the cartel responsible for murdering my brother. I’m closer to revenge than I’ve ever been until his duplicity tears my life apart.
Ours is a relationship borne of hate, but we can't deny the fire that rages between us.
Now I have two choices: Save his soul or lose myself to his darkness forever.

WOW!
Wow this was everything I was looking for in a dark romance book. With a fantastic storyline and just the right amount of chemistry between the characters you will not be able to stop listening until the very end. An absolutely brilliant performance from both Sarah and JF Harding they really did make this audiobook special.

Hearts of Darkness
This is so much more than you typical captor romance. It has some pretty intense side stories that blend beautifully in here and the characters are so intense. I have really liked listening to this one and hope there isn’t too long of a wait for the next in this trilogy.

Wow!
Now I know why the Santiago Trilogy has a plethora of 5 star reviews.
What a whirl wind of a plot, riveting romance with me with tear pricks for the torn lovers. I even was saying no no don’t kill him, when a favourite side character was killed.
Luckily I can go straight on to book 2.

Dark Mafia Romance
Hearts Of Darkness by Catherine Wiltcher is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and JF Harding. This is the first book in The Santiago Trilogy.
This is the first book of Catherine's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The chemistry between Eve and Dante was off the charts. Their relationship is a bit messy but you can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ends on a cliffhanger but that wasn't a surprise since it is part of a trilogy. I can't wait for the next book in the series Hearts Divine to be released on audio so I can get more of their story.
Sarah and JF did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, or romantic suspense.

The Devil and his angel!
This is book #1 of The Santiago Trilogy. Having just put down another mafia book, I picked this up as it had been in my TBR pile for ages and for the first few chapters it was like deja vue! They were so similar and the previous author seems to have simply cut and pasted this one unless all stories are formulaic, which would be a shame!
Anyway, this one was so much better and involves Eve "Angel", a DEA's daughter and investigative reporter, being kidnapped not once but twice by Dante, "the Devil", who is no less than the one nameless crime boss that she has been searching for and responsible for her brother's death!
They have an instant attraction which I always find rather odd. I get Stockholm syndrome, but that takes weeks to develop not minutes or hours!
Dante is delicious as are all mafia anti-heroes, dark and dangerous but I would have liked to know more about his background in Afghanistan and life in Colombia and why the darkness rages within his soul.
Eve is a sassy and intelligent beauty, the light to his darkness and their romance was endearing. What I didn't understand was her lack of fight in the first kidnapping incident and how she explained the situation to her father at the end. Perhaps this is dealt with in #2.
The twists and turns are so good and it kept me gripped until the end and I immediately downloaded #2 to follow their story.
The narration was sublime!

My Thoughts on Hearts of Darkness
This was an interesting series starter. Two characters who have known darkness in one form or another. Their meeting seems by chance, but connections are revealed proving just how entangled they are. Lots of blood is shed after a betrayal is committed. And through all of this I found myself overall enjoying the story. It was well paced and by the end I for sure am interested in listening to the next one. The narrators were great. I honestly can say they heightened the experience for me. I’d like to see where this goes.
