About this listen
Galahad Threepwood is causing scandal again...this time by deciding to NOT publish his potentially humiliating high-society memoirs. His decision causes rifts in the ranks at castle Blandings, and all involved split into three camps: those who want the book suppressed, those who want it published, and those who, for some reason or another, have been sent to steal it.
A very British restrained chaos inevitably ensues, and a listener can expect a whole host of the usual confusion, blackmail, robbery, and of course, the odd bit of pig-kidnap. The Empress had better watch her back....
Veteran Wodehouse reader Martin Jarvis never fails to please, with marvellous characterisation and an obvious respect and passion for the author and his works.

Full epic novel of the age
Where Jeeves &co rule the short episodic stories Galahad threepwood rule this sweeping saga of love & loss - if only a Reuben’s oil painting could have been commisioned of the Empress of Blandings our great galleries of art would have been much improved with and a world wide atraction would have the wonder of this phenomena and its complex geo-political intrigues would be the stuff of legend- and that tale of Helen of Troy would have dwindled into the mere stuff of village gossip;

Excellent narration
I like Martin Jarvis’ narration of the Blandings stories, I just wish this was not an abridged version!

Two geniuses at the height of their powers
This is like listening to Leonid Kogan play Bach. A staggering performance of a perfect text. Martin Jarvis is always wonderful but here he is gloriously on song - and the book itself is one of Wodehouse’s very best. It’s hard to imagine anything more pleasurable - hilarious, sweet, superb.

Heavy going
"Heavy Weather" by P.G. Wodehouse is Heavy Going, unlike other P.G. Wodehouse titles. Difficult to hold interest. 'Nuff said.
