Summary

As the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity, the Holy Land (the area in and around modern-day Israel) is one of the most important regions in the world and the setting for defining events in religious history.

Comb through this evidence for yourself with The Holy Land Revealed, which will add new dimensions to your understanding of this dynamic place. Delivered by archaeologist and award-winning Professor Jodi Magness of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, these 36 lectures give you an insider’s look at how archaeology helps us relive this period of civilization. And it’s a chance to get up close and personal with long-buried objects that will take you deep beneath the pages of the Bible.

Excellent: concise, objective, well delivered and fascinating

This course is outstanding. Prof. Jodi Magness puts together a very clear narrative: it is well researched and referenced, it is concise yet rich in information and it is clearly and unassumingly delivered. I look forward to more courses by this scholar!!

Best non-fiction I've ever read

Thank you Jodi. This has been my favourite non-fiction book on Audible, or elsewhere for that matter. I found this fascinating and easy to follow. I usually find myself getting lost during some parts of a non-fiction book, and have come to accept that as normal, but Jodi's skill in explaining things clearly has shown me that it really is down to the quality of teaching as to whether a book is easy to follow or not. This book was unexpectedly interesting and has made me want to learn more about the geographical region and time period it covers.

A Desperate Attempt to Justify the Unjustifiable

The author tries, tries, tries, and tries again to attach SOME validity to the fictions in the Old Testament.

It is quite embarrassing, in the face of the archaeological evidence -even as included in her own narrative, for the author to continue to pass off such thin threads of disputed evidence as justification for truth in the Bible.

It's a tedious listen for anyone familiar with the latest discoveries. At some times, one can only laugh at the ridiculous conclusions.

Unacademic, subjective and childish

Apart from the continuous repetition and circular arguments attempting to do nothing but prove the historical accuracy of the Bible, there is an assumption of absolute ignorance leading to explanations of basic English wordsike "sect" & "forum". Several contradictions of earlier parts of the book and inaccuracies in timelines combine with a total disregard for Greek & Latin pronunciation, despite significant efforts to correctly pronounce words in Hebrew & Aramaic, to form a pitiful attempt at an academically rigorous book.
