Strongly agree we should get a just right home when we first get our property. I personally start with a small and inexpensive apartment. Around 4 year later, we have enough down payment to get a townhouse for over $700K.

Look, buying a property is no joke. Unfortunately there is a whole heck-ton of bad advice both online and through "hand me down" stories from parents. This book immediately provides a sense of relief in that a) the process is not as complicated as you make it out to be in your own head and b) there are a number of handy tips and tricks to know.

One of the biggest takeaways I got was that a lot of info I found online was outright wrong, and that there are bad actors in this field who will give you poor advice because it suits their agenda. Like the lender who will encourage you to go for that home you can't really afford just because you qualify for a loan.

I feel like Yvonne Aileen actually cares about me as a listener, and for that, this book is an easy 5 stars.

One of the best books ever written on the subject

Great insights from start to finish that will make the process easier and save me money when I buy my own house.

Unlike other books I've read it covers all the bases... terminology for beginners... negotiating... working with a lender etc. It really does the job of an all-in-one guide.

It was definitely a hand-held, step-by-step guide. And I loved the Goldilocks home analogy. Well done!

Awesome tips for US or UK!

The author's writing style put me right in the "story" for lack of a better word. I was able to feel the process of going through the home buying steps and I know that "muscle memory" or whatever will help me when I'm ready to do this for real. And I also know I will be ready years sooner than I ever thought possible because of what I learned in this book.

For me a mortgage has always been a scary prospect, signing your life away for 25 years or more. But this book helped me take away the fear of mortgages and understand that especially in this age of cheap credit and money printing, you can do what the rich do and take advantage of the circumstances we find ourselves in with runaway house prices etc.

Demystifies the process

It's always said that buying a house is an unreachable dream. However, this audiobook blew me away!
I find it's so easy to understand the real estate business from mortgage loans to negotiation skills. The author also expounds on the government program for house buyers in easy-understood ways. Highly recommended for first-time buyers like me!

So lucky to listen to this one!

This is a very clear, practical and easy to understand guide for buying a house in the US. Most of the advice is universal and can also be useful when buying a property in the UK but this book alone won't be sufficient in that case. The thing which I liked the most about this book is that the author makes a very good and convincing point about the benefits of owning a house instead of just renting it.

Practical and comprehensive, focused on the US
