About this listen
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.
And so, Yui Shaw sets out with an ambitious plan. A 10-step plan.
She'll find a way to obtain the Hero's legendary sword. She'll earn obscure classes, gain levels, and increase her skills. She'll travel to the meticulously-crafted dungeons that seem designed for one specific Hero to complete. And, if she's truly (un)fortunate, she might even find a fairy.
She might not be a Hero - but if she can fake it long enough, she might still be able to save the world.

Great for zelda fans
Zelda is my favourite computer game franchises so I really enjoyed this book. However, If you aren't a big zelda or computer game person then this probably isn't for you.

What a great whimsical tale
A typical fantasy adventure, where the hero quests to beat the demon king! or is it...
... a hugely enjoyable subversion of a stereotypical story, told with great skill, and very well performed.

Light hearted fun
Every 100 years a hero is born to defeat the demon king, but the cycle repeats. A young girl tired of waiting for the hero decides to do it herself.

Great fun
Really nice book. easy to listen to, good fun premise. the characters are well thought out and the storyline is very good. quirky but good.
love the twists and really liked how it ended.
I am suprised Andrew Rowe managed to keep it so short with all the possible "rabbit holes" that could have been explored.
my only slight criticism would be the narrator's use of the word mana, it Just sounds wrong to me. other than that, all good.
If you like rpg or even just fantasy in general then give this a go. well with it

another great book from Rowe
Another great book from Rowe, this one a little more satirical than his usual style.
Fans of Zelda and fantasy in general will enjoy this story.

self aware litRPG
Fantastic self aware adventure story/litRPG. The way the lead character was self aware of the usual tropes and twist and her ironic disposition had me laughing all the way through!

Immensely enjoyable
As a Zelda player and a fan of fantasy games in general I adored this story. I'm sure many players have imagined some of the more out of the box tactics employed in this story, much of it is genuinely clever. I would love to see this as an anime or comic adaptation.

It took me half the book to realise what this was
Disclaimer I was provided a copy of this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
I like LitRPGs but have read a lot recently meaning I was feeling a little burned out when I started this one. But...after one chapter I was hooked.
With a likeable cast, very interesting world anf fantastic narration I was really drawn in and was perpetually excited to hear what was going to happen next.
I think I was halfway through when I realised where the game was set and, looking back, I realise the truth was there all along but, rather than make me feel cheated or tricked, this really made me laugh.
With such a likeable group of characters, cheeky style and overall sense of fun this is one of my favourite LitRpg books to date and one I'd happily come back to again and again.
