Number-One Audible and New York Times Audio Best Seller

More than one million audiobooks sold

A lone astronaut must save the earth from disaster in this incredible new science-based thriller from the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Martian.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, he realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Alone on this tiny ship that's been cobbled together by every government and space agency on the planet and hurled into the depths of space, it's up to him to conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And thanks to an unexpected ally, he just might have a chance.

Part scientific mystery, part dazzling interstellar journey, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian - while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

Simply Breathtakingly Brilliant Story & Narration

I throughly enjoyed this Audible book. The rich detail is captivating, enhances the believability of this light-hearted story, so you're emersed in this other worldliness. The science, the physics, the mathematics (it's ok, it's all worked out for you), the humour all adding to the richness & holding one's attention.

I didn't want to put this one down, nor did I want it to end.

Ray Porter's narration is the best I've ever heard, it's 1st class. I'm amazed one person can so flawlessly read & perform such a varied cast of characters (I needed to check book details a few times to confirm it was one & not a cast, he's that good).

if you like the Bobiverse trilogy..

Detailed scientific explanations, no magic nonsense. Great concept and pace. Narrator did a great job capturing the characters. Better than Artemis.

Just Fantastic

I think sometimes we get incredibly lucky when an excellent story and an incredible narrator get put together and with this story we have landed a perfect combination. Ray Porter is a powerful storyteller and is capable of voicing multiple characters, keeping them consistent while Andy Weir's story is compelling. Dealing with the main characters impending doom and the extreme measures being taken by people to save everything, he remains able to show the full range of human emotion.

Great story

Story was excellent. Narrator occasionally sounds like a sassy 12 year old girl, which really bothered me, it didn't need the weird inflections. Probably better as a book

Another phenomenal book from Andy!

Couldn’t put it down until I had it finished! Love the relationship between rocky and chase.

Another great listen by Weir

The narrator wasn't RC Bray which made me a little concerned but having listened, Ray Porter did an excellent job and was just as engaging as Bray.

the first 3/4 of the book were brilliant if a tad slow at times, there was a period which had me less engaged than usual, but the ending came in make up for the slower chapters.

More similar to Artemis than to The Martian

Similar to The Martian but...

Another great story using a similar format to The Martian. Ray Porter does a good job of narration. I really enjoyed it!

A great performance by Ray Porter to compliment another fantastic Space science adventure. Highly recommended listening.

Good story not so good characters.

I have to agree with some other reviewers, the humour is forced and predictable, The main character isn't believable. Feels more like a sassy sitcom character. By the end of the book i was nearly tempted to just start skipping some of the repeatitive natter.
Overall the general story is good, It tries to be the martian again but doesn't quite hit the same mark. The narrator does a good job with what he has.
Is it worth a listen? Yes
