A clear insight into how we behave and why.
Would you listen to How to Succeed with People again? Why?
I will listen to How to Succeed With People again to reinforce the information it gives. It is well laid out with good real life examples and clear, understandable language. Paul's approach is very careful and intelligent with no magical spells for controlling or dominating people. However the insights are very real and practical which provide the listener with a starting point to understanding why and how we interact with one another and what to do in order to improve relations with people, be it for business or personal issues. Going in my win column.
What did you like best about this story?
The clarity and realistic information given.
What about Paul McGee’s performance did you like?
Great attitude towards teaching, no hocus pocus voodoo magic fixes and a nice bit of humor every now and again. :)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It wasn't a book I could listen to all in one sitting, however I am new to the whole audiobook experience. I think Paul's accent was a bit too on the harsh side to continue for the 3+ hours, sorry Paul. Other than that it was top marks.
Any additional comments?
Great listen, valuable insights given in an understandable and humorous way. I now have a clearer mind on how to understand myself as well as others.

Wish I'd listened to this 20 years ago
If you think you have your interaction and the way you deal with people sorted, think again.Paul Mcgee's references are impeccable and he is an inspiring speaker.Wish I had been receptive to this type of material twenty years ago.I'm older and hopefully a bit wiser now and can see the true value in it.I would suggest that even if you come away from this book and only implement 5% of it,you will have improved the way you interact with people ,your customers, employees, friends and family. A very inspiring and useful book and I'm glad I took the time to really listen to it.

succeeding with people
great audible in succeeding with people. I found most chapters relatable to real life and great questions to ask ourselves and ponder on our own actions towards others. I particular found questions to ask critically very useful

Not worth the credit
Nothing really intelligent or engaging came out of this for me. The ideas/ tone/ narration... Didn't inspire me to act or see differently in any aspect of life. My comparison is likely biased- as the only other self help/ communication improvement book I've read is Steven Covey's 7 habits of highly effective people (global best seller) & I didn't follow all the tasks when asked.
Regardless of comparison & involvement - I found this to be an unintelligent listen throughout and couldn't get into it. McGee explained at the start a simple approach is taken for ideas to be better absorbed and looked at. However, SUMO (shut up move on) being the main slogan and other concepts made it too difficult to believe I was listening to the teachings of a leader in effective communication- it didn't even really sound like the book was meant for an adult audience!
On the plus side some of the jokes did make me laugh (though for the wrong reasons they were terrible!) & I can see that this book may work a bit of magic on some people but it really didn't for me.
