About this listen
The only way to escape is to die.
For 18 years I've suffered at the hands of the Hunters. For 18 years they've done their best to break me, to tear me open and unleash the terrifying monster that lives within.
Until the day they go too far.
When a desperate escape leads to another brush with death, I'm forced to place my trust in the hands of four formidable strangers. Wild and untamed, their feral natures call to me, their warrior hearts make mine come alive. And when they offer me a place to stay while I heal, I can't say no.
But the secrets I carry are deadly, and my past is a twisted, evil nightmare better left forgotten.
They may think they want to know me, they may think the secrets they guard behind hard eyes and closed expressions comes close to the ones I keep. But should they ever discover just who they've let into their home, just what I really am...their hatred could be the one thing that finally breaks me. And if I break, the darkness inside me will finally be free.
Contains mature themes.

Slow burn but good
I was glad the reviews warned me that this would be a slow burn without much action — it’s true. The story is more about the victim of trauma acclimatizing to today’s world and her new… roommates.
I still enjoyed it throughout and can’t wait for all the good stuff promised in book 2, which I’ve already downloaded. If you’re looking for steam, I believe you need to be patient and wait for that one… I hope that’s the case!
I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure both narrators’ Scottish accents were terrible. But hey, the woman does a great job otherwise and the man’s voice is super deep. It works.

Good book but Not GREAT
the overall book was great but the middle was like all about her being depressed and all that always been scared starting herself like I don't want to sit up at 21 hours so I can have a let down when all comes through was only like when the last hour that are feeling more confident I know just not my thing so yeah but if you like that thing then this is your book

Weak female main character.
I couldn't finish stopped at chapters 36. Painfully slow. Trauma all the way, she doesn't speak up when necessary I had hoped she'd grow strong at some point, guess I'll never know.

Amazing I need book 2
For 18 years Hope as suffered in the hands of the evil hunters trying to get her to show her monster within which she has buried and detached herself from. When the chance to escape comes she takes it and ends up being saved by 4 guys who she feels drawn too. I love her interactions with Ruarc and Jason even though Ruarc is very dominant and feels women should do as he says I don’t see him as the type to hurt her and Jason is the joker in pack but most is to hide his feelings towards her. Ash is very in control of himself and you warm up to him instantly and Lucien just makes you want to punch him but towards the end you will begin to warm up to him . I loved the dual narration and I am eagerly awaiting book 2 .

Very slow
Brilliant concept but it’s so slow… the writing overall is fab but there after the beginning there is no middle or end to the story. I know it’s a trilogy but each book should have a purpose like say this one they deal with all getting together then the next two being either the council or the hunters… but even in at the end of this book there is no conclusion to it

Absolutely love the story. The narrators are good at portraying emotions and really bring the characters to life.

Good, but so slow!
Great portrayal of trauma, but after a while it gets repetitive and rambling.
The narration was great. Like Aiden Snow the best :)

Only half way through - exasperated frustration!!
There is slow plot line progress and then there is this... The author as such a graceful writing style, however, plot line progress is non-existing... It constantly feels like 1 step forward then 10 steps backward. No answers, no strengthening of bonds or character development, no truth, no trust, no clear communication between any of the main characters, leaving me in exasperated frustration... sigh... it could have been great, but Hope's lies are just too much!!!!
