Summary

WINNER: Voice Arts Award, Audiobook Narration: Crime and Thriller

NOMINEE: International Thriller Writers' Thriller Award: Best E Book Original

From Thriller Award-winning author Alexandra Sokoloff and Audie Award-winning narrator R.C. Bray (The Martian):

Special Agent Roarke thought he knew what evil was.

He was wrong.

FBI Special Agent Matthew Roarke is closing in on a bust of a major criminal organization in San Francisco when he witnesses an undercover member of his team killed right in front of him on a busy street, an accident Roarke can't believe is coincidental. His suspicions put him on the trail of a mysterious young woman who appears to have been present at each scene of a years-long string of accidents and murders, and who may well be that most rare of killers: a female serial.

Roarke's hunt for her takes him across three states...while in a small coastal town, a young father and his five-year-old son, both wounded from a recent divorce, encounter a lost and compelling young woman on the beach and strike up an unlikely friendship without realizing how deadly she may be.

As Roarke uncovers the shocking truth of her background, he realizes she is on a mission of her own, and he must race to capture her before more blood is shed.

"This interstate manhunt has plenty of thrills.... Sokoloff keeps the drama taut and the pages flying."

A fast paced thriller

What a start to a series. Fast paced, full of great characters that the author brought to life, with many twists and turns. I loved the main two FBI agents, the author really brought them to life in their hunt for the Huntress and they made a great team. The hunt uses all their skills and shows their humanity, particularly the lead FBI agent of Rourke. In the same way, you could understand the motivations of the Huntress and the writing gradually revealed her motivations.

I can't wait to catch up with the next in series.

I loved listening to this

What made the experience of listening to Huntress Moon the most enjoyable?

A fanastic story, The Narrator just seems to get the right balance between the voices of characters, I loved how this was read. A very soothing, interesting voice. That in parts felt like I was having a documentary read to me.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Huntress Moon?

the whole book was Brilliant. Very well written. And one that had it been a tree or E book, it would have been hard to put down.
It is something I will be listening to again this week, as soon as I get chance

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Very interesting, A brilliant story line.

Any additional comments?

My review posted on my blog.
I was very lucky to be contacted by the author, to see if I would be interested in reading this book.
I was thrilled when I realized that I could have it in audio. it meant that I could start it that night. I was working a night shift, and it's great to have something to listen to.

The story.

5/5

Brilliant. Very well written. And one that had it been a tree or E book, it would have been hard to put down.
It is something I will be listening to again this week, as soon as I get chance.

The characters in the book, were brilliant. the plot was really good. Another brilliant crime thriller, for all you crime fans out there.
Well worth reading.
Matthew Roarke, is a special agent with the FBI, his case involves figuring out what happened to one of his undercover agents. He has been hit by a truck, but everything is pointing to this being no accident.
A female was spotted at the scene, a female that seems to have been spotted in a number of other places, linked with other deaths. Who is she? Does she have any involvement in the crime, or is her presence just a big coincidence.
Roarke sets out to try and find this woman, and this is when his case gets going. A whole big jigsaw that he and his team need to piece together bit by tiny little bit.
All in all a really good read, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Strong performance and good story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend to a friend - the story was gripping and the performance by the narrator great!

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline was strong and you could visualize how this would like if it was turned into a movie. The characters were well developed but there was not too much focus on them to detract from the story.

What does R.C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

R.C's characterization of the people was spot on and brought the story to life, creating a strong visual of who the characters were

This series is off to a fantastic start

I've had this book on my Kindle for a while but didn't get around to it until receiving the audiobook version recently. I'm now hooked on this series and can't wait to listen to the next one!
It is such a fast paced, gripping story with life-like characters. I loved the descriptions of locations and the personalities of the main characters, as well as their background stories and the cause and effect of it all.
R.C. Bray is the perfect narrator for this book; he brought each character to life and made it a great listen.

Satisfying, well paced, a story with depth

This is a serial killer thriller with a difference. You'll be rooting for the killer, for all the right reasons. Makes Robin Hood look like child's play.
Good atmosphere & characters. Highly recommended- and now to download the next one...

Another vigilante - but above average

This time the main character is a woman with a troubled childhood who is on a personal mission to rid the her patch of 'the monsters'. The primary FBI agent finds this troubling and conflicting for a number of personal and professional reasons.
The main character is nicely drawn and feels a good degree of angst and ennui etc and is far from being without emotional involvement in what she does even though she does not spare those who prey on the weak and the powerless.
I liked the two main FBI agents too. They seemed like quite well-developed characters with all the normal range of good and bad attributes.
It is a neat story, almost feels like the first half of a book, but the end is satisfying enough whilst clearly leaving the door well-open for the continuation of the tale.
Obviously, RC Bray could read the back of the sauce bottle and leave you wanting more.
I will get the follow-on book and hope to get to know all the characters a little better.
