About this listen

Discover the surprising art of reconnecting with your inner child in order to make your adult life that little bit simpler.

You can own your own home and want to build a blanket fort on a bad day. Hell! On a good day, too. Give yourself permission to seek praise, ask for help, and have something soft snuggled against your face because you're sad. You can pay your bills on time and still exclaim out loud when something is really f--king cool, run a business and wear cat-covered thermals under your suit. You can take time to play, just because.

Full of spirit and un-self-conscious enthusiasm, Ice Cream for Breakfast: How rediscovering your inner child can make you calmer, happier, and solve your bullsh*t adult problems is the permission slip all too-grown-up-for-their-own-good-but-secretly-scared-of-adulting adults need to locate their inner children nestled deep within, so that we might all relax enough to laugh harder, wonder more and marvel at magic on the daily.

Makes you look at the world differently

I think there is some great nuggets of information here, although at points it’s seemed a little out of touch in regards to other cultures and less privileged backgrounds.

Interesting concept

I love the idea of releasing the Innes child. I completely agree with the premise of the book and it's something I've already tried to implement, so maybe it's just me but I found the content was nothing particularly new. Some if it is funny, and it served as a reminder to me to care less about our adult "problems". We're all in the sage boat!
Laura does a great job of narrating with personality. But for me, I found her use of swearing really annoying and mostly unnecessary, especially with her well spoken accent. I couldn't listen to it for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Brilliant...funny, insightful and well written

A lovely book that aides our journey by reflecting on the benefits of a child's perspective on life and attitude.

Loved it loved it loved it!

I love the way that she takes us on a journey throughout each chapter. I’m a Nanny and find it so relatable but anyone who has kids or even knows any would agree. Can’t wait to listen to another of Laura’s books!

Such a fun book!

I was looking for something light-hearted and fun, and this did the job perfectly.

Little pockets of wisdom wrapped in anecdotes that had me giggling like a kid... which is the point...

Wasn’t for me

It started off as a nice reminder of how human we are, which was comforting and reassuring, however the insightfulness wore off. It was repetitive and felt like a bunch of inspirational insta quotes on repeat. I couldn’t finish it; it wasn’t terrible however it didn’t go anywhere. Not for me, but that’s ok. Nothing wrong with ice cream as a breakfast option though :)
