About this listen

A captivating, sexy romance that explores the limits of love at first sight....

Afro-Brazilian filmmaker Ren is recovering from a romantic betrayal. Kayla is a Black British artist and journalist keen to make her mark. Thrown together during a string of interviews in New York for Ren's latest film, they’re struck by an irresistible attraction. The two surrender to one night of searing honesty and passion, which leaves them with more questions than answers about the future.

With secrets lurking between them, letting their romance continue could upend the separate lives Ren and Kayla have so carefully built. But can they really risk losing their miraculous connection?

This book is sooooo intensely beautiful, I’m a hopeful soppy romantic and though the twists and turns are heart wrenching the overarching connection between the main characters is so mesmerising the anticipation for the resolve of the story is mind blowing!

Just Wowwww!!!!

I found this book to be fairly captivating. I enjoyed the dual narrative and I could picture the characters in detail in my mind. I enjoyed the narration and found it to be believable. The withdrawal of a star is because the ending seemed rushed. They went from independent lives to back together and it felt hurried and less believable in context. Apart from this I really enjoyed this book.

Ending seemed a bit rushed but otherwise great.

The male voice that was performed by Jessye was a little off; it did not convey over with Jakobies' character that well for me, but great performance by both .

Great!

Well, what can I say, Overall a good listen.
Good story, enjoyed the wrens voice way too much...(no 31-year-old sounds like that, waaay too good to be true,
but will probably give me higher expectations now, lol) Kayla was cool but I found her character annoying after a while, a bit whiney, even, with all those long inner monologues. Good performance from both, but I do wonder if another voice would of suited Kayla?... just me knit-picking (this could also be because I'm a Londoner, I think another type of voice would have suited the character, but also- I just wanted wren to tell the whole story lmao..I mean his voice was just liquid velvet!)
conclusion
The love scenes were very hot and steamy, and even though this is a girl meets boy type of story, I still enjoyed the ups, downs, and near misses, of their lives, that came with the character's progressions towards each other.
That ending was inevitable but needed. A great escape...

A great escape, naughty but intriguing listening

This was initially free when I downloaded it; not thinking too much of it. Thought it'd be a nice change of pace from the stuff I usually listen to. And now it's one of my favourite AudioBooks. The emotional roller-coaster alone is just enthralling, the characters are all great in their own way. My only critique is having the two voice actors do the accents of everyone involved in their respective chapter. I feel this would've benefitted from a full cast, but I do understand the decision from a creative standpoint. But yea... This needs to be on screen, somehow. Could bring romance films back from the dead.

Needs to on screen.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrators really bought the book to life. I found Kayla a little annoying in parts but that was my interpretation. overall still a lovely story.

Very Good Read

This is the first YA romance that I've listened to and my first audible book. The story was gripping and exciting.

Loved this

This could've easily been one of your typical romance novels, with the all too familiar love at first sight/meet cute tropes and no substance - but it was far from it! A really enjoyable read that shows the complexities and messiness of love, and explores the intimacy of sex without crossing into erotica. I finished it within a couple of days because being a black creative in London myself, Kayla (Jessye Romeo) was really believable and I resonated with her character. It was my first time listening to this narrator and I hope to hear more from her! P.S. For balance, check out Amazon for more reviews, the American .com audible reviewers always seem to struggle with/dislike British narration especially for black characters.

Not your average love story!
