About this listen

Class secrets revealed. A large shoe to fill. Peace is only on the table.

Joe’s candidacy was successful beyond his wildest dreams. Between driving the elves out of dwarven sovereign territory, utterly destroying an army of thousands, and using resources he could have used for himself to bring back the fallen on his own side...his reputation begins to precede him once more.

The human was so successful that many people even within the dwarven faction have decided that they need to step forward to stop him. Realizing that he’s been in the public eye too long, Joe decides that it’s time to step out of fighting the war and instead focus on completing new quest lines and consolidating power.

After all, letting other people decide the course of war has always worked out for him in the past.

A puntabulous adventure

This is a great series that mixes fun with a rollercoaster story. The performance is great with recognisable characters.
The reading is top notch.

As good as ever

Invent really continues the series excellently with great narration and more puns and jokes as ever.

A major step up from the previous one.

This book has less generic dwarves, and more individual side characters, even though you only get glimpses of them. This series is entertaining, but not among the greatest out there.
The narrator does an excellent job. Bloopers are also a nice addition.

Story beats that makes sense

This is one of the latest book in a long series and despite what the protagonist has been struggling with the story beats happening around him makes sense.

Stronger at the end

This started out quite purposeless and rambling. Joe has no real goal or adversary and is just accumulating power. Then, about halfway through, things start happening and the story really kicks off.

I could do with less Jackson. I know he intentionally is made to be annoying as a display of his low charisma but it is a shame that this continues while he gets so much "screen time".

If this was the first book in the series I'm not sure I'd go straight to the next one but as a continuation in this series it was a good one, if a bit of a stop-gap before what I imagine will be a more exciting next book.

The narration was really good.

A lot of chat and not much action

This started off as an entertaining series but like some others it's become a bit stale with too much concentration on stuff that is a bit boring. It must be hard to keep stuff interesting but this one was deadly dull. I gave it 4 stars out of loyalty to the series rather than how much I enjoyed the book. I don't know if I will listen to the next one but it will be my last one if it continues in the same vain.

Great series

Picked the fist book up as a freebie and was surprised at the quality of writing and story line. It’s not one you need to concentrate hard to keep up with plot twists or battle strategies.
That said for RPG literature it’s definitely one of the best I have gotten off Audible. Characters are well written and rounded, and unlike others I have read in this genre, no misogynistic tripe every other chapter, which sadly seems prevalent in earlier written works of this genre.
Great narration by Luke Daniels gives these stories the extra star without a doubt tough.
So if your looking for a light distraction and D&D / RPG play, is up your street you can’t go to far wrong with this series.

Yet another great entry to this series.

Great characters and story, brilliantly voiced.

I was very happy to see this had come out.
