Summary
A fortuitous encounter. A meeting that should never have happened.
Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever...
Salome knows only one way to live - under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence - the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.
Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.
River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life - he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six - much to his rivals’ delight.
Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw, and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.
Styx has one rule in life - never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot...a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go...

This is how MC romance is done!
MC romance isn’t my jam but I’ve had this series on my TBR for a long time and I do love Tillie Cole’s writing… She captures emotions so beautiful, and especially the raw and messy ones that leave you heart gaping.
I fell into this story from the go and at not time did I want up give. MC men are crass talkers and their lifestyle and code of conduct is not akin to us mere mortals…
This story is heart wrenching to say the least, and the plot was well executed overall. I had a few minor issues with the pacing and development, and eye-rolled several times over some things that happened mostly on the heroine’s part, but I understood her actions were from a good place and she’s naive to life outside the commune.
The narration was incredible, especially that for Styx. As much as this book was easy to read, the narration blew my mind. What’s not to love about broken hero and one with a speech impediment.
Like I already mentioned, I don’t read a lot of MC romance but for me- this is how it is done!

Dark and emotional but loves it!
Took me a while to listen to this book as I know they are darker than I normally read. But wow, loved it. loved the male narrator so much and could listen to him forever. Such a good story with action, sexy time and plot twists. Lots of emotion with abuse but didn't detract from the enjoyment of this book. Loves it.

pure filth and a bit of fun.
okay it's not the best bit of writing ever, and it did make me laugh at points unintentionally due to the cheesy writing, but I liked it full of sex and fighting. great!

Triggers galore and what a rollercoaster!
Wow! This book blew my mind I have read a few MC books but this one went onto another level!
I have worked out what one of my triggers is - the word 'bi*ch' in the wrong contest and particularly for women. I'm not sure whether this is a commonly used term within the MC world but it makes me wince every time and I hate it. Anyway if you have the same problem be pre-warned!
This book is very gritty and violent about a mute MC President who stumbles upon a girl when he is 11 and she 8. He never forgets her. She comes from a religious commune and is severely abused for her beauty.
There are an enormous amount of triggers including r*pe but having said this, it is a very well crafted book and I was riveted from beginning to end but I had to take a break afterwards as I felt battered!
The narration was superb by #Annie Green and #jfharding I take my hat off particularly to J.F. Harding for bringing Styx to life as he did and will now be looking for other books narrated by him!

A very different romance story
There was some very graphic descriptions of rape and assault of a child. which could be triggering for anyone who has had that experience.
Mays accent was annoying at times too. But I got used to it once the story progressed.
