About this listen

Danny Wallace was bored. Just to see what would happen, he placed a whimsical ad in a local London paper. It said, simply, 'Join Me'. Within a month, he was receiving letters and emails from teachers, mechanics, sales reps, vicars, schoolchildren and pensioners - all pledging allegiance to his cause. But no one knew what his cause was. Soon he was proclaimed Leader. Increasingly obsessed and possibly power-crazed Danny risked losing his sanity and his loyal girlfriend. But who could deny the attraction of a global following of devoted joinees?

A book about dreams, ambition, and the responsibility that comes with power, Join Me is the true story of a man who created a cult by accident, and is proof that whilst some men were born to lead, others really haven't got a clue.

Excellent book, excellent delivery

The book is a really great idea that's presented in an entertaining and captivating way, and Wallace's reading of it completely does the work justice.

Abridged version

Danny did a great job narrating this wonderful story. It does miss out some fun parts from the book though- his visit to Gareth, his trip to Holland, his holiday etc. It's not a full version of the book.

Funny, enjoyable easy listen.

It's not profound literature, but if you like funny non-fiction stories about adventurous people doing spur of the moment things, you should like this.

Danny Wallace is a genius...

I first read Join Me years ago just after I'd discovered the brilliant Yes Man. It remains one of my favourite books and now I have it read to me at my own convenience in the car by Danny himself...life is good!!

Makes me want to start my own stupid boy project.

An interesting memoir from Shaun Hastings pre Animus Project. If you are familiar with Dave Gormans earlier work you will find much to enjoy with this.

Love that it was read by the author

What made the experience of listening to Join Me the most enjoyable?

Love that it was read by the author, Danny Wallace is brilliant!

What did you like best about this story?

Loved that it was based on Danny's true ridiculous 'boy adventure' - you could not make this up!

What about Danny Wallace’s performance did you like?

Brilliant delivery and true emotion

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Really made me laugh.

Any additional comments?

I really wish that it was the unabridged version, which I read several years ago and loved and missed some of the stand out stories from that for a fuller overall experience. But still brilliant fun and Danny gives an excellent and hilarious performance as always.

Danny Wallace entertains from start to finish. As with all his titles, you can listen again & again.
Well written, well read, well done!
Perfect light hearted entertainment about a boy and another of his 'stupid boy-projects'
