Summary
Daxton Chambers loved being a part of the oldest and most distinguished law enforcement agency in the state of Texas: the Texas Rangers. But the person who was burying women alive in his city of San Antonio was always two steps ahead of him...and he hated it.
Mackenzie Morgan lived what she considered a normal life. She worked at a non-profit agency, hung out with her best friend, had an annoying-but-loving family, was clumsy, had a tendency to ramble when she was nervous...and was still searching for the man to spend the rest of her life with.
Meeting Mack, and finding out just how perfect she was for him, wasn't a part of Dax's plan. But he'd be damned if he was going to complain about it. Unfortunately, Dax's job wasn't always safe. Both Mack and Dax would find that out the hard way.
Justice for Mackenzie is the first book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Suspenseful joyride
Holy hell! Talk about tension! I have not been this desperate to just page to the end to see if everyone survives IN A LOOOOOONG TIME! The characters were clear and believable. Mack's quirkiness and Daxton's gentle grace made me feel invested in their future(s).
If this is how the first in the series starts, and the rest fills in terms of quality, I will definitely be moving on to the rest of the series - asap!
Definitely a MUST if suspense is your thing.
A pity about the quality of the recording, the background noise interference took away from the narration which was good.

Book 1 standalone
Omgoodness I did not want to stop listening to this book. I was captivated the entire time. I am kind of a wimp so it was a little bit to detailed for me when it came to the burying woman alive stuff, but I had to keep listening lol. I love the characters and their friendships. I think the author was a little wishful thinking with the men in this book. The h talks A LOT and rambles on, the guys think it’s cute. No guy I have ever met likes to listen to a woman ramble lol. I absolutely love narrator Erin Mallon however I think there were some issues with editing this book. You can hear her taking breaths in between sentences and there seems to be a lot of background noise. Those issues didn’t make me like the book any less, I just noticed them and it kind of distracted me. I definitely recommend this book. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Brilliant story shame about the audio
This is a brilliant story by Susan Stoker. It's my favourite so far. It's just a pity that it's ruined by the poor quality audio recording. You get half way through the story when the background noise starts, it's faint at first but gradually builds until you struggle to ignore it. And it's happening during the most exciting part of the book. It's as if they recorded the book when someone has left on either the tv or the radio.
Give this one a miss and but the book. Poorest quality audio I've ever heard.

Not worth the time to continue
I only managed to listen to 25 mins before the boy's club attitude of the males and the stupid bumbling female was just to horrible and too silly to continue with, so never really got into the story.
