Summary

As an event planner, Gillian Romano’s an expert at rolling with the punches and solving unexpected problems. But her flight getting hijacked while returning from a job is definitely out of her skill set. Passengers are being murdered, and when she’s chosen by the terrorists to be their mouthpiece, even more innocent lives rest on Gillian’s shoulders. Only the calm, reassuring voice on the other end of the line keeps her sane, forging a bond with a stranger she’s never seen but trusts with her life.

Walker "Trigger" Nelson and his Delta Force team have spent years training for close-quarter hostage rescue. When they get called to South America to attempt to save an airplane full of hostages, he doesn’t expect to meet a woman who rocks his world in the middle of the op. Gillian’s cool head and bravery in the face of certain terror - and possible death - blows him away. Any outcome that doesn’t include Gillian leaving that plane alive and well is not an option.

After their safe return to Texas, both Trigger and Gillian are excited to find out if their instant chemistry can survive the real world. Neither realizing that someone isn’t happy with the outcome of the hijacking, and is watching, waiting, for a second chance to strike.

Shielding Gillian is the first book in the Delta Team Two series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Wow!

Another brilliant book by Susan Stoker. This is her new Delta team series and covers the story of Gillian and Trigger. It was great to see a few familiar faces in this book (I love it when characters from earlier books pop up) I don't know how Susan manages to keep writing fresh and exciting books but am so pleased she does. I'm quite new to audio books but found the narration by Virginia Rose a brilliant choice. Can't wait for the next in the series.

A good 50/50 mix of romance and suspense

First, Virginia Rose did an amazing job. Reading and both female and male voices were great. Loved that she's not bubbly when she reads. If she could change the male voices up a bit more for all the different team members she would be fantastic. She is relatively new to me and would love to listen to more from her.

Great romantic suspense. Action started in the first chapter and stayed for most of the book - 5 stars. I also enjoyed the romance between Walker and Gillian - 4.5 stars. I had to take a half off with the slow burn, their reasoning behind waiting just seemed unrealistic to wait so long while also sleep sleeping together all the time.

Loved the teaser for the next book - can't wait!

It starts with a firework

It starts with a firework and doesn’t slow until the end. We’re barely 5 minutes in when the hostages taking happens, and the whole first part is action packed. Then comes a second part where the main couple reunites and finally more action and suspense. But don’t worry, the romance is still at the center of the story.

Gillian is independant, level headed, and strong. It was a very interesting character, and I liked that she never needs Walker to get her out of trouble–except that one time when she needs comfort, and that makes the moment even more powerful. On the other end, we have an extremely protective alpha male who doesn’t want a relationship. Or so he says, because from their first meeting, he keeps showing the exact opposite–spending the night at her appartment, not wanting to jump into a physical relationship…

The action part is thrilling, and the romance part is both adorable and hot. A good combination, especially compelling with the excellent narration.

Independent Gillian 💪🏼

Gillian is one of the girls, but when it comes to tough situations she steps up to the plate. After her plane being hijacked and being used as the intermediary between the police and the hijackers, and then getting rescued by an elite group with a handsome man who catches her eye, she is undeniably strong and determined. I liked that she and Waker take it slow, and that she is not the damsel in distress. Walker is such a gentleman and a protector, that she still needs because she is still in danger. Suspense and sweet romance combined in this audiobook. Ms Rose has a great voice and brings all characters to life with her narration.

Great thriller

From its intense, well described start, through to its finale, Shielding Gillian succeeded in taking me along for an exciting and suspenseful ride. Virginia Rose narrated with confidence and versatility. She is able to convince in both the male and female roles 💖💖💖💖
