Summary
When the naive David Balfour sets out on his quest for a long-lost relative, a terrifying chain of events is set in motion. He is plunged into a world of infamy and violence from which there seems no escape - until, that is, he meets the enigmatic and valiant Highlander, Alan Breck....
Kidnapped is a captivating novel set around Scottish events of the 18th century, most notably the Appin murder, the case of a highlander who was wrongly implicated in the shooting of a government official.

Fantastic
Excellent performance, superb story. I don’t need fifteen words for this review. Three more required.

A classic!
Stevenson's tale of Jacobite adventures stands the test of time, and is enlivened by Rintoul's narration.

A splendid yarn
Kidnapped remains a great classic tale of danger and pursuit in the Scottish Highlands. David Rintoul's rendition is excellent. His general narration is clear and we'll paced. He deals very professionally with the whole gamut of Scottish dialects and social classes.

Excellent performance of a classic tale
I really enjoyed David Rintoul's performance of Kidnapped - he really brings the characters to life and it's great to hear Stevenson's rich and witty Scots dialogue spoken by a Scottish narrator, I just wish he also read the sequel, Catriona.

Excellent narration of a splendid tale
I can’t say I enjoyed Kidnapped that much when I read the book, but this audiobook with the excellent narration, has given me a whole new perspective on RlS’ historical tale

An old favourite brought to new life.
David Rintoul’s performance, excess’s usual, gives this classic adventure new life. (The contrast with its Audio sequel, Catriona, “read” by a bored and boring Frederick Davidson could not be starker!)
