Summary
Doctor Isla Cooper is cursed. Literally. Each night, at the stroke of midnight she falls into a deep sleep from which she cannot be awakened for six hours. To make it worse, the curse has an expiration date - after a year, she will fall asleep forever. And the year is almost up.
In a desperate attempt to find Malette - the witch who cursed her - Isla blackmails her way onto Daniel Pickett's private airship bound for the Caribbean, only to discover she's traveling with three illegal shapeshifters and the despicable Nigel Crowe, a government official determined to hunt down and exterminate every shapeshifter in England. Isla and Daniel must work together to keep the identities of the shapeshifters hidden while coming to terms with their own hidden secrets and their blossoming attraction to each other.
Filled with suspense, intrigue, and plenty of romance, Kiss of the Spindle is a steampunk Sleeping Beauty story. It is a race against the clock as Isla and Daniel try to hunt down the elusive Malette before Isla's deathlike sleep becomes permanent.

This series is becoming addictive!
Having thoroughly enjoyed 'Beauty and the Clockwork Beast' I didn't think this book would be quite as good - but I was wrong!
I love the way Ms Allen takes the gist of the original fairy story and twists it into something completely new and original, and puts it in a steampunk setting.
As in the first book, the characters were all strong and easy to relate to, even the secondary characters, and the worldbuilding was totally believable. It was also nice to learn more about some of the characters from the first book. The author builds the sexual tension beautifully, one feels the emotions of Isla and Daniel and the intensity of their growing feelings for each other. She has a way of cleverly describing these feelings in detail, without the need for explicit descriptions, keeping the story sweet and wholesome.
The narration on the whole was good and I liked the narrator's voice. My only criticism being the pronounciation of 'ton' as 'tun, when, since it's a contraction of 'automaton' it should surely be pronounced as such. This jarred a little, but not enough to spoil the story.
I'm now starting the third in the series!

So sweet!!!
I didn’t expect to like this at all, I’ve not read this genre before and thought it would be weird to be honest, it was a frickin adorable story and such sweet characters! I loved it, kinda wish it was a bit longer as I loved it so much towards the end, I’ll be adding it to my favourites and reading it again at some point soon!

Very Enjoyable
A lovely, Romantic Steampunk Adventure. Perfect for those who are looking for something light and not too emotionally taxing. The Narrator does a great job too.

I really enjoyed this book
This is the 2nd book in the series & I enjoyed it as much as the first. The plot was unusual & yet again the different characters & different twists & turns kept me hooked.
I would definitely recommend it.

Very enjoyable
Interesting twist on sleeping beauty and great to have a heroine who isn't useless. I like the easy inclusion of serious topics such as Shell Shock & PTSD and the matter of fact way they are accepted and dealt with. (If only these were so easily handled in the real world.)
Good narration from Justine Eyre, though some of her upper class accent comes across very forced in places

Lots of fun
Love these books! Lots of adventures and some cute romances too (but not too smutty). I like how the author has woven fairy tale stories through a steampunk setting, the characters are all intrepid and extremely charming, can't wait to read more of their adventures. will definitely be looking out for more books by this author!

struggled with the narrator
I found it hard to get past the narrator's voice. it grated so badly that I found myself hating the characters. The delivery of the dialogue really changed how I saw them
