About this listen

Walt has his hands full battling animal abusers and a loan shark threatening to lop off a client’s pinky. But the real test comes when a landlord asks Walt to help him sue Kansas City, which has passed the Tenant Bill of Rights. This bill makes people with evictions and criminal records a protected class.

Due to this new ordinance, a rent dodger with a history of evictions has moved into a client’s building. As the case progresses, Walt soon realizes that this new ordinance and the people it protects are a landlord’s worst nightmare!

Walt and the gang are back and ready to cause trouble for wrong doers under the umbrella of the lady justice in high heels and they do it so well. With style, cunning, a little bit of luck, some law bending and a lot of humour. Most of the gang that you have come to know over the 40 books put in an appearance, in there own unique way and charm. Like most of Robert's books it will leave you thinking about it long after the last word has been uttered. Looking forward to the next book in the series if only to find out what happens.
Walt and Kevin are hired to look into a case of animal cruelty and In helping the cats and dogs make a new friend who turns to them then his own brother needs help from getting out from under a loan shark for gambling debts. With that case solve successful he doesn't hesitate to bring them another client. A friend is having problems with his tenant but due to a new law he has no power to evict him and wants to sue the law makers. Good job Walt know someone willing to take on the higher ups. With a top notch lawyer on board Walt tracks down over land lords having problems and so begins a big court battle that could change many lives.
George Kuch once again puts in an excellent performance and it is nice to have the winning team back.

... But you don't have to sit on it. "
Book number 40 in Robert Thornhill's always excellent series about the retired realtor who became a cop then, after retiring, continued as a PI. With George Kuch perfectly becoming the voice of Walt Williams narrating the often comical experiences of himself and his extended family of relatives, tenants and friends, he combines entertainment with an issue to ponder.

If you have not yet read any from this series, you have a real treat in store. If you've already met Walt Williams well, you won't want to miss this one. Good book, great series. Recommended
