About this listen

A Warhammer Age of Sigmar novel.

In Shyish, twin towns face horror - the spectral hordes of Lady Olynder will soon rise and devour their souls. One hero must stand against them - but can he face the Lady of Sorrows?

Listen to It Because

Get an insight into life in the Realm of Death, and discover how its inhabitants deal with the constant threat of spectral horror.

The Story

In the deathly realm of Shyish, the Twinned Towns of Westreach and Eastdale exist on the edge of annihilation. Once in each generation, the hosts of Lady Olynder rise from their tombs to slaughter the towns’ inhabitants, and for centuries the nighthaunts have been turned back, but only after the fiercest of battles. Now, the wizards in the ancient Belvegrod lighthouse have deciphered a prophetic vision that offers a chance to break the curse placed upon the city. The hero Jahangir is fated to lead a desperate mission against the Mortarch of Grief and free his people from this menace once and for all. But is Jahangir equal to the ordeal before him? Can the courage of mortals stand against the undying malice of the Lady of Sorrows?

One of my favourite WH audio books!

The reason why I now play Nighthaunt instead of Stormcast. Excellent narration and story is gripping. The Lady is a crafty one 😉

A Ghastly Tale

'Lady of Sorrows' by C. L Werner is another fine addition into the Age of Sigmar range of novels, and would likewise perfectly slot into the Warhammer Horror range of publications. It is a tale of spectral horror full of haunting ghosts, eerie coastal settlements, a Pharos lighthouse, and a generational curse. The characters all felt compelling and their adventure was easy to follow. I'd highly recommend giving this novel a listen!

The pale lady haunts a town

A well paced story with, plenty of twists and turns, that reach a dramatic conclusion.

Nighthaunt rule and they should do more books

dark, dismal, despondent, everything I was looking for in a Nighthaunt book. And has convinced me to buy the lady oleander model

Quality Age of Sigmar Tale

Excellently read, compelling characters, some interesting twists and turns but ultimately a fairly predictable ending.

great performance and a decent story.

Classically CL Werner, the story is episodic as heroes face trial after trial. Ultimately the ending creeps up faster than expected and is only rounded by epilogue.
This is my favourite of his works I have read so far however and the performance of Richard Reed leads to an entertaining and enjoyable audio book.
