Summary

A New York Times best seller!

What was once the Western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, 15-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, 15-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

Exhilarating to watch unfold

I really enjoy this book although did find it little slow to get into at times. The characters are expressive and Alluring as they stumble through their self discovery of two unique experiences of same world. The author has written an exciting, but intriguing society. An you see that it bound to offers many amazing adventures that will give answers to the many mysteries

Good teen fiction - but quite predictable

Was solid story, but felt predictable throughout. The pace was a little odd with almost everything happening in last 1 hour.

Fun for a long trip

We downloaded this for listening in a hire car on a holiday, and my girls aged 11 and 13 really enjoyed it - so much so that when we arrived at a destination we would often sit outside just a bit longer to hear the story!
As adults, we thought parts of it were quite cheesy but overall we like the narration and the speed of the story was great for car journey as a family.

Blah

Honestly this book never really got going. Plot blah. Character development blah. Imagery blah. A poor mans Hunger Games or Divergent. My advice ... skip it!

Performance is off-putting

The reader reads lines from the characters lacking empathy or understanding of how they would be said in real life. No pace or real feeling is in the voices. Two characters switching between chapters is really hard to follow with one very dull male voice and one very high pitched female voice both reading without any true character. A shame as the story seemed good.
