Summary

Many are the sagas of Leman Russ, Lord of Winter and War, most fearsome of the Emperor's primarch sons. At the height of the Great Crusade, his Space Wolves fight to bring the rebel world of Dulan to compliance.

Enraged by the defiance of the tyrant Durath, Russ has pledged to strike him down personally - but his brother Lion El'Jonson of the Dark Angels advises more caution. With the might of two Legions arrayed against Durath, tensions nevertheless run high, and the rivalry between the Wolf and the Lion threatens to engulf them all.

Needed more russ

The first half of the book is a bit too general for me. It's good, and fitting that the story about russ is told as a story. It just feels like for a short book about russ. Half of it isn't about russ.

One of the best!

Great story keeping your interest all the way delving into all of the mysterious parts of the wolves history that keep being hinted at or referenced in other books, while dropping its own hints for future story arcs. Leaves you smiling at the end, listen to it :)
Fenrys Hjolda!

not enough russ

For a story about Leman Russ, you don't learn as much about him as you do in other primarch books. The relationship between the wolves and the angels and their primarchs take center stage

Hard to pay attention to

Through no fault of the narrator, I found this book hard to get into, I imagine it is simply the case of a good book that did not translate to audio platform very well, however, it is still a great title and had very entertaining moments, aided by the drama the narrator skillfully added.

Narrator is Immaculate

The narrator is fantastic. Astounding. The story of the wolf and the lion is supremely told with Jonathan Keeble's formal yet growling tone.

A must-listen for 30k fans!

Not really a Primarch story.

Overall this is a great listen/read, well voiced and acted and very atmospheric.
I was hoping it would be more about Leman himself as the story of the great wolf king. not a lore story which every 40k fan knows.
very enjoyable but not what I was expecting.
