Summary

The trickster god is free, and he's under my command.

When I asked the old witch under Camden Lock for help with avenging my family's murder, I didn't expect her solution would be to invoke a powerful god.

Loki is big, strong, and pissed! Thankfully he can't hurt me because he's bound to me. But the only way he'll ever help me get my revenge is if I help him find someone really important first. The problem is that the more time I spend with him, the less I'm able to resist him.

But I can't let my guard down. He might say all he wants from me is to punch my V-card and end the people who killed my family, but I know he wants something more. And I'm scared it has the potential to destroy everything.

How can a young, meek little witch like me tame a god like him?

Loki and His Master is the first book in the Demon Gods series, a spin-off series set in the Cursed Hearts universe.

Demon Gods is a contemporary fantasy MM romance/urban fantasy series where mythical gods are reincarnated into the 21st century and let loose to destroy, avenge, and fall in love with young little witches. Written in British English with US spelling and grammar.

Brilliant narration for a great paranormal romance

I love the retelling of the Loki character and how his story unfolds alongside Tomasz, a witch looking to get revenge on whoever murdered his family and Loki was summoned and bound to him.
You can feel the intense pain that Tomasz is in from when he discovers his family. He also struggles with not being able to use his abilities that his family are known for and so has no confidence in himself. Meeting Loki, a character full of life and himself, brings big changes to his life as he battles to move forward with his plans, keep Loki under some sort of control and not act on the attraction he feels to the god/demon. Loki hasn't been called back to earth in over one hundred years and enjoys being back, noting the good and bad changes, but it's still under another master which he needs to get out from. Tomasz is unexpected with his kind and caring ways, Loki can't help but be drawn in deep, rather quickly, and now fights himself on what he wants more, the young witch or his freedom.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns that the story took, on occasion more intense than I was expecting. Loki's story is interesting and different to what I've read before and loved the father aspect that gets involved. My heart went straight out to Tomasz with everything he goes through in such a short space of time and also goes through a little bit of a transformation, helping to fulfill both men's promises and saving Loki. Definitely a recommended urban fantasy read and I'm excited to see what comes next.
I haven't heard John York's narration for a little while but he hasn't lost his fantastic touch. I love the accent that he gives to everyone, especially Tomasz's, and the emotional content is conveyed perfectly, really getting me into the mood of the characters.

Brings the book and characters to life!

This was one of those books that kept me listening when I was working and doing housework.

Loki’s character was fantastic. I really liked him and he just worked brilliantly with Tomasz as he bounces between what he wants most - Tomasz or not to have a master. The story of what happened with Tomasz family and his feelings about his self made me feel so much for him.

A pretty new to me narrator and one that I really enjoyed (and I’m pretty picky). Definitely brought the characters and book to life!

Whispers And Lies.

MM, Mythical Gods Modernised, D/s, Age Gap, Hurt/Comfort, First Time, Urban Fantasy, Contemporary, Romance. The first book in the Demon God's series which is a spin off set in the Cursed Hearts Universe. A fast paced plot with action, drama, secrets, twists and turns and lots of heat. Great characters in this modern take on Mythical Gods where some of the main characters are bad but also good, fantastic to be able to enjoy this on audio and really enjoyed the narration. Guaranteed HEA.

Interesting story

That was an interesting storyline with Loki. He may be a god, but he's tied to his.Master Tomasz. The story lines are varied and well thought out. Loki and Tomasz's relationship has some ups and downs and at first they each pursue their own goals until they interweave them more and more.
There is a lot of suspense, but also mystery and of course magic.
Humor is provided by the talking cat that only Tomasz can hear. Wonderfully biting.
I found the story very entertaining.
John York narrated the audiobook. I liked his pleasant voice. He did a great job portraying each character and bringing the story to life.

Loved this first book in the Demon Gods series!

It’s in a shared universe with the Cursed Hearts series, so if you read and loved them, you’ll know Tomasz is Caleb’s shy barista at Java Jinx, and you’ll get some cameos by the characters of that series.
This firs book is super exiting, Loki and Tomasz don’t seem like they are meant to fit together in any way, and yet they do!
The trickster God is up to no good for the best part of the book, and yet he develops an endearing protectiveness for Tomasz, who, on the other end, proves himself not to be the wallflower everyone expects him to be!
Loved John York’s performance, he did a great job with Tomasz Polish accent and he was on spot with all the different characters!

Great narration!

You know what? I think I enjoyed this book more the second time around and part of that has to be the narration. John York's smooth Loki voice and accented voice for Tomasz were perfect and so easy to listen to! I basically listened to the entire thing in one go!
I also understood Loki's choice at the end more this time around. The signs were there, I just hadn't picked them up first time around. He and Tomasz worked so well together and Loki really helped him master come into his own. With Loki by his side, Tomasz got everything he wanted and more.
Lightly kinky with Loki being collared, but I loved that as it suited who Loki is as a character.
I love how Rhys portrayed Loki here.

This book made me feel all the feelings

This was such a brilliant book. It had me laughing and crying hard in several places. There are moments where it broke my heart, but then healed right back together again. Brilliantly written. John York does a fabulous job of carrying this book and his accent work is great.
