Summary
In a world where I had no say, violence became my refuge. Nothing else mattered, not even my own life, until her: Skyler Bell.
It all started the first time I heard that voice, giving me hope for tomorrow. My first love was everything all at once - consuming, maddening, forever, mine.
Except I never imagined there were secrets that needed to be shared, lies that needed to be confessed, truths that needed to be told, demons that needed to be buried.
Once I realized that the depth, the longing, and the sadness and sorrow in her eyes mirrored my own, it was too late.
Love didn’t come to me as heartbreak; it came as everything I’d ever desired.
Walking away wasn’t an option I wanted; it was the only one I had.
I finally found the price of love, and it cost me my soul.

5 amazing stars, the book deserves more reviews
by far the best books are done in duet narration as this one is. both narrator's gave a truley fabulous performance but i couldn't leave the review without giving Brian Callanan the credit he deserves...holy smokes he gave an absolutely phenomenal performance, he put every ounce of feeling, emotion and passion into this narration and I was utterly captivated by him from the first to the very last word of the book. Ive listened to nearly 500 books in the last 2 years and his performance is by far one of my favourites.
the book is well written, following Noah and Skyler's relationship from their childhood into adults. it covers some difficult topics that they both face throughout their lives, however they are handled without the grafic detail and more through effective writing but you may want to check your t/warnings.
I was enthralled by the book and couldn't put it down, it deserves more reviews and is well worth the credit.
