A candid account of a person's journey to sobriety
This audiobook gives a nice account of one persons journey to sobriety that even the casual drug/alcohol user can relate to. After one friend said they were worried about me but I felt totally fine but maybe not as productive as I could be I thought sometimes you have to respect the opinions of the people outside yourself, which this book also recommends. I can relate to the changes in the brain's chemistry, knowing that certain things don't even cross my mind to do, procrastination seemed to take over even when im sober because there is still a general cloud. I liked the part about that talked about how you can to get that child like feeling again which happens to me when I partake in more wholesome activities like playing sports.
The narrator is very expressive and dynamic and the authors story is heartwarming and genuine and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Definitely feeling more mindful of my habits.

EDUCATIONAL AND INSPIRING!!!
This book details the author's battles with addiction and denials while also providing encouragement, understanding, and hope. The author shares their experience with addiction recovery and provides insightful guidance through open storytelling and introspection. This provided me a closer look at the experiences of some people I know who have struggled with sobriety over the years and showed me how I might support them on their journey.
The book stresses the significance of forgiveness, acceptance, and loving sobriety. Addiction can add to a person's load, making it challenging for them to handle life and be their best, most resilient selves through trying times.
I'm so glad the author was able to open up to help countless others because each chapter of the journey was engaging, helpful, and difficult.

I could definitely relate
R.J. Boots does a phenomenal job of sharing their personal experiences with addiction, self discovery, and treatment. I struggled with my own addiction in the past and I definitely related to so much of what Boots was describing throughout the audiobook. Boots' honest storytelling immerses listeners in their journey from the depths of alcoholism and denial to the heights of recovery, contentment, and joy. I was particularly struck by the practical approach to sobriety, blending personal experiences with the transformative power of the Twelve Steps. The narrator did an outstanding job of bringing the author's story to life and I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone seeking to reclaim their life from the grips of addiction.

Candid Journey
If you or someone you love has ever been trapped in the cycle of addiction, listening to this story from the author will make you see things through a whole new lens. The author is very candid and offers understanding, empathy and practical advice for overcoming addiction. I have a loved one who struggles with addiction, so hearing this story helped me have a greater understanding for what my loved one goes through daily. The book sends a clear message that addiction can affect anyone and seeking help is a sign of strength, not a weakness.
The twelve steps are laid out in the book clearly but it's the information and stories shared within each step that truly brings the book together. I have seen with my loved one that it is very difficult for family to try to rally around when there is so much distrust but yet you see your loved one trying to be better and do better.
This book is for anyone who is either dealing with addiction personally or someone they know and love is. I found this book to be very eye opening and gave me a new sense of compassion for someone struggling with these demons.

A life changing listen
Having been sober for a number of years, I wanted to find some inspiration to stay sober and find other people who have walked the walk and can provide hope, strength and experience. R J Boots has walked the walk and shares so candidly his own recovery story which will leave you uplifted, inspired and ready to continue (or start) on this epic sobriety journey. I need to listen to his wise words as they have helped me regain focus in my own sobriety and understand more deeply about my own spiritual malady. The biggest take away from this was Chapter 4 - everyone should understand the principles behind looking at the similarities and not the differences - a life-changing chapter. Highly recommended!
