Summary
A fast-paced apocalyptic novel with a flair of Michael Crichton.
Terrance Mathison, a veteran turned bioengineer, returns from a camping trip to find that a widespread pathogen is quickly rusting important metals once they’re touched. Amid the crumbling downfall of our technological society, he assembles a team of super-nerds and elite soldiers to find and secure a lab in hopes of developing a cure. As cities collapse and food supplies dwindle, Mathison and his team navigate an increasingly savage world. He has to decide what lengths he will go to for a cure.
Lawrence’s novel asks the question, “How do we survive without metals?”
Metal may appeal to those who enjoyed the Arisen series and Jurassic Park.
Scientific grounding: For this project, the author learned from experts in the rapidly growing fields of microbially induced corrosion, biohacking, bioengineering, and infectious diseases. While Metal was vetted by spec-ops veterans, some liberties were taken because of the backdrop of rusting.

A refreshing apocalyptic romp
I love apocalyptic fiction and prefer to avoid the glut of zombies that infest the genre these days. So when I read the blurb for Metal I was instantly drawn in. It's an interesting premise and certainly has scope for a sequel if not an entire series. How accurate the science behind it is open to debate but that aside the book has a solid plot, decent if somewhat stereotypical characters and just the right cadence for apocalyptic fiction.
The narration by Brian Avers is excellent, each character's voice is unique and easy to differentiate. There is no dip in audio quality and his enunciation crystal clear.
So if you're looking for an entertaining story to lose yourself in then Metal will certainly deliver this in spades.

apocalyptic intrigue
overall the story is a good look but why science should have processes and what happens when people follow the phrase the air means justify the end the only real issue I had was the chopping and changing between the main characters name and call sign

Mad Science.
Rust, I’m your father !
Where have the author J. F. Lawrence got the idea for this only the almighty knows.
I get that all water on earth is connected so contamination is easy only that a rust bacteria shouldn’t affect metals which don’t rust like aluminum, titanium, gold, silver and probably more which I can’t think of right now, so HOW ?
Each character narrated perfectly by Brian Avers !
Recommend for fun !
