Summary

Was it possible that there was a man out there who could see past Lenny’s damaged body and soul, and want to claim him as his?

Lenny has suffered things that no person should have to endure. With that comes health issues that impact on how he sees himself, leaving him feeling isolated.

That is, until a chance meeting.

The world that Lenny understands is now spinning in a different direction, and he isn't sure whether to hold on or let go. Never having had anyone to catch him before, can he trust Nathan?

Can an introduction into a BDSM lifestyle be everything Lenny didn’t know he needed, as he discovers being a virgin is not always a bad thing?

Mine, Body and Soul is the first part of a three-part story in The Playroom Series. This is a slow burn MM gay romance, with an age gap and a sexual awakening.

Warning: This book has a HFN ending. There are also aspects of childhood trauma touched upon briefly.

Lays the groundwork for books 2 &3

Slow to get going. Just as it picked it ended. Another sub holds all the power (but not) book lol
I have reconsidered having read book 2. The first instalment (book) sets the scene to perfection and we get a more rounded view of the MCs.
It's all makes sense now, onto book 3, I must know how it all ends.

Amazing start

I was a little skeptical when I first started this series, BDSM with D/s relantionships are usually not my jam, specially when it's a 24/7 thing. But I was plesant enough to discovered that Lenny and Nathan story is more than just their kink or their roles in the lifestyle.

Lenny is truly new to the scene, and it was really well done. He wasn't a "natural" submissive, but had submissive tendencies and was willing to give it a shot. You can feel his struggle and reluctance to let any other person see his body, to let another person see him.

Nathan is a soft dom, the kind I most love. He is compassionate, sexy, caring. Beautiful first start of a series.

Matt Haynes did an amazing narration. He is a voice actor, he doesn't just read the book but also put emotions behind every scene, every speech. His pace was spot on, the pauses between sentences was also good. And I could differentiate all characters.

Part One

Mine, Body, and Soul is a multipart series with each part ending in a cliffhanger. The first part introduces the reader to Lenny, a young man dealing with a serious medical condition, and Nathan, the dom who wants to take care of Lenny and start a new relationship. The story is a little over-the-top, but the characters are so sweet that it balanced out the over-the-top moments. I really liked how protective Nathan was over Lenny and how they fell in love with each other. There was a lot of action and drama that made for an exciting story mixed with some really hot and sexy kink scenes.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Solid start to a series

I liked the uniqueness of the relationship and that the characters were true to their nature (even though one of them seemed to cry an awful lot). So often in this genre we are repeatedly told what a character is, but nothing the character does is suggestive of that background. While that is partially true for one of the characters here, as this is a series starter, it seems safe to assume the next book will likely concentrate on that character. For this first part, we definitely got to experience Lenny.

I also liked that this book offered a story that didn't depend on the sex to pull readers in.

What I wasn't a fan of was the narration. The inflections were odd and at times the tone was in total contrast to the story being told which detracted from the persuasiveness of the story.

Accent is a bit weird

Sorry but that's the first thing I thought when writing this review of the Audible version. The accent is the strangest one I've heard yet. I'm English and I couldn't place it from any region.
The book however is good, but ends very suddenly and the next 2 books aren't on Audio yet, so will have to read them without the accent, which could be a good thing.

A great start to a series

l really enjoyed listening to this story, my heart melted at the vulnerability of sweet Lenny. Life had been too cruel to him, until he met Nathan.
The smoldering chemistry between the characters had kept me hooked till the end. l was sorry it finished when it did, l wanted more, l want to know how Lenny will cope in a world he has never experienced.

The narration was very good, l love listening to a real British accent.

A beautiful audiobook,

I really thought I had written a review but I had only typed a draft ... Sorry about that ..
This is such a great read / listen , I know I had so many different emotions ... all to be remembered.
Lenny had a rough beginning to life and he had dreams wonderful dreams of a future ..
Nathan is part of that dream , a dream that I couldn't stop thinking about all through the audiobook.
Nathan is a Dom as well as such a thoughtful man ... a man who knew what he wanted and who he wanted ..
Such a wonderful story about two men who need each other, for the reader to be taken on such an emotional story , I was left breathless..
Wonderful words by JP Sayle with perfect narration by Matt Haynes.
