Critic reviews

‘I was reaping social and valuable financial advice before I’d even finished the first chapter…her experience as a journalist on the money desk for The Times, The Sunday Times and the Guardian allows her to do something that I’d never experienced before: she explains money clearly’. STYLIST

‘Of course, you need a guide to get started and this is that book. Laura Whateley understands her subject and knows how to explain it in such a way that you will be able to make informed choices about your finances, rather than feeling confused and patronised’ THE TIMES

Wish I knew this stuff sooner.

Everything you wish you know after finishing high school and before university. But not to late to read after high school or university.

Really practical and useful

I found this a really useful practical audiobook which guided me through different areas of how to deal with money. I’m not great with money so it was good to hear some ways of improving my situation. The tone was jaunty, helpful and realistic which made a serious pragmatic subject much easier to listen to.

Wow this helped me a lot.

After reading this book, it kind of added to the small amount I knew about money but I know for sure that I did close down my overdraft after reading this book so I can properly save money. Great read.

Better late than never

I wish I read this book when I was 20/21. I would have made some better decision. Regardless as I’ve just turned 23 I still found this book to be helpful. This is a beginners guide which introduces money issues well and I’ve picked up a few things which I wouldn’t have known.

Great to gain basic knowledge of personal finance

The book is great for beginners in the UK. Due to different regulations across countries it doesn’t make sense if you don’t live or don’t intend to live in the UK.

The book explains very well the basics of personal finance with good examples
