Summary
Are you happy? Is there more to life than this? What if there is another way? What if that way doesn’t involve jacking in your job, leaving your partner, having a midlife crisis, or uprooting your existence? What if that way just involves small actions, taken every day? With no more effort than you now spend tending your social media flock, super-glued to a screen.
Best of all, what if that way costs you little? In fact, what if that way saves you a ton of money and lets you retire a few years earlier?
What if someone said that by following this way, you'll get:
- An idea of what you were put on this earth to do.
- Increased happiness, purpose, and meaning.
- A practical plan to future-proof your career.
- A way to declutter your life, so you’re able to see and think clearly again.
- A fully costed route to financial independence.
- A system to manage your finances.
- An investing plan that will explain how you can get your F. U. Money.
David Sawyer is not a guru. He's just a middle-aged, married-with-two-children, Glasgow public relations guy who woke up one day and decided to change things. Six years later, the result is Reset that will wipe the windscreen of life so you can see clearly again.
It's a page-turner (part story, part practical guide), which draws on the experiences and research of academics, philosophers, Nobel prize-winners, actors, Olympic athletes, self-help authors, investors, and personal finance experts.
If you reset, within a year, you will have transformed your future. It's never too late. You are the master of fate. You are the captain of your soul.
Critic reviews
“Hidden in plain sight within the 300 or so pages of Reset is an elegant synthesis of the latest thinking in financial independence, lifestyle design, and age-old philosophical wisdom - cunningly disguised as a breezy pep talk from your witty mate down the pub. In a world that's forever racing past us on a screen, it's a reminder of the potentially life-changing power of a book.” (Monevator)
"I don't say this lightly: This is one of my top, if not my very top, financial independence books that I've ever read. I absolutely loved it. I feel like it's the book if I had the guts to write my own book, that I would have written this.” (Brad Barrett, co-host, ChooseFI)
“Sawyer’s Reset shows us how to achieve material wealth. It emphasizes discipline, sacrifice, and hard work…” (William D. Danko, co-author, The Millionaire Next Door)

All round well researched key information for anyone interested in FIRE
The author has spend years putting all this valuable information together in one place.
It started a bit slow for me but I’ve rated it 5 star as it covered so much in the end it exceeded my expectations
Some very practical advice on how to and best practice ,covering lots of topics some obvious and some not . Interesting was I really enjoyed some of the left field topics covered towards the end 10 things to do and 10 things not to do .
Happy to highly recommend this audiobook

Brilliant - a must-read.
I've read the hard copy twice and just finished the audiobook, which helped add layers to my understanding of the plan that David Sawyer lays out. I'm very much a believer in 'just-in-time' learning and this has come at exactly the right time for me as I reset my 'midlife career' towards an early retirement. The book touches on so many areas from developing your digital profile, improving your productivity, to being part of the F.I.R.E. community (Financial independence, Retire Early). Sawyer is an award-winning PR marketing consultant with his own business. It's clear that this book has come from his own personal experience in striving for success and ultimately, happiness. It is aimed at the mid-life (35-60) careerist but the plan is actually suited to all of us who are in gainful employment, whatever your current position or level of income. It's an easy read and a great listen.
Definitely my favourite book over the last few years and I'm already taking action to do my own 'reset'.

Far-Reaching Inspiration for a Better Life
If you're a Gen-X or Xennial Brit, harbouring the vague feeling that you may have missed some of the secret sauce of the good life, this book could be your saviour.
David Sawyer pours out years of knowledge and research into this magnificent distillation of some of the great, hidden theories on how to maximise your life in the 21st century.
You could spend a few years trawling the internet and find much of this thought online, but thanks to Reset you don't have to. The answers are here, they're easily digested, and sometimes heart-stopping.
Sawyer narrates the book himself in a confident, lucid style, even including the occasional sing-along. By the end of the book, you feel you've not just learned a boat-load of actionable insights, but also got to understand the man behind the ideas.
I would recommend Reset to anybody who's made some progress in their career and is now looking to understand... what's next???

Excellent money and career book
A fantastic overview and translation of the financial independence movement for the U.K. market. Very well researched, with lots of additional content on career, happiness, and decluttering your life. Well worth a listen, especially if you don’t know what an isa is, and you don’t know how to invest - this will lay out a clear and easy path to build a serious amount of money with minimum effort

Improvement guide to mid-lifers (and younger as well…)
There are many audiobooks on self-help and on improving your life but this is one very straightforward and clear one. Easy to listen and clear ideas.
I recommend this to also younger people in their 20’s just starting their careers and wondering what to do with their time and money. At least you’ll get your savings started and maybe retire earlier.

Brilliant UK related book on FIRE and so much more
What a brilliant listen. It's totally UK centric re the FIRE movement and I'm so pleased it was. Living in the UK means we've had to listen to US centric books on the subject for years. Loved this book and hope to hear more from David Sawyer. Great references too....get on Monevator Blog....what a brilliant blog referral.
A must read for UK based people interested in financial well-being and the FIRE movement.

An excellent UK-focused FIRE overview
As an early adopter of mustachism, there wasn't too much new here for me... but if you're over 30, UK-based and have no idea what the hell a mustache has got to do with money, then you *badly* need to listen to this book. David's friendly, genial voice and writing style makes this one of the most painless ways to learn about personal finance I have yet encountered. (The "La's" conceit doesn't quite work in audio, I was wondering if the band had re-formed for a good 20 minutes... but don't worry about that.)

Good wants it gets going
Interesting read I think I was 70% there before i listened to it. Some good tips but did not agree with giving my golf club membership up !!
As you may wish to refer to section in the books later probably better to get a hard copy
