The year 1934. Kitty Underhay steps out of the battered Rolls Royce and onto the graveled driveway of Thurscomb Castle in deepest Yorkshire. She’s honored to be a bridesmaid at her cousin Lucy’s wedding to the reluctant Lord Rupert Woodcomb, but as family and friends gather for welcome drinks, Kitty dodges intrusive questions about her own marital status by taking a stroll about the castle grounds. As she passes through the manicured gardens, a fatal shot rings out....
The valet, Evans, is dead. And Kitty can’t help but notice how rattled the man standing next to him seems. Could Rupert’s best man, The Right Honorable Alexander "Sandy" Galsworthy, believe the speeding bullet was meant for him?
When she discovers that Sandy has been receiving blackmail notes, Kitty suspects that one of the assembled guests has plans to make good on their threats. Narration spoils the book
I agree with the other reviews which say that, whilst they are not bad, the new narrator has changed the the personalities of the main characters by making them more formal and plummy.
I have looked forward to the release of each new book in the series but I am finding it hard to finish this one and unlikely to buy the next one in audio format.

Dissapointed
What a shame to listen to the last of a lovely, charming series that I had thoroughly enjoyed - until the narrator changed for this last book. I apologise to Ms Edsell for my harsh comments. Her voice is false, her attempt at Joan Hickson playing Miss Marple is both poor and annoying., and I'm really surprised that she 'got the job'. The previous 6 books were very, very easy to listen to. and the characters grew to be familiar
due to the consistency in the narrator. This book feels like its full of strangers. Ms Edsells voice sounds forced and it was very annoying and distracting. I couldn't listen long enough to get the plot and finally gave up after just 1hr and 6 minutes. I was and still am, trying to find a way to enjoy the book, think I'll have to buy the hard copy.
Publishers please note. Please do not change narrators mid series.

Another enjoyable mystery.
Another enjoyable mystery. I had an inkling who the killer was but it was still a surprise when it was revealed. I do prefer the original narrator simply because I have her voices in my head but this one was perfectly fine and I will continue to buy the rest if the series in audio.

narrator is awful and ruined the series
after so many books they changed the narrator! she is awful and has totally ruined the image on my head of the characters i'd got to know!

Different narrator
I have really enjoyed the series until this point. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the new narrator, I found her voices too different from the original narrator. Hence I only listened to a couple of chapters and could not get into the story.

I love this series
Unfortunately struggled to complete this book as th narrator was not the usual one. I couldn't understand why Kitty suddenly sounded so much grander than her cousin considering the difference in their social status. I probably will not purchase the new book if the narrator is not Alex Tragear.

Another great mystery don’t know how she does it!
I loved the plot and the ongoing stories between pre existing characters. Loved the change of location for the wedding which allowed for a fresh take on things too.
Sorry but personally have to agree that this narrator was not quite right for this role. Much preferred the previous narrator. The voices of a lot of the characters were much too prim and proper and there were moments that I lost concentration because the voice was more monotone.
Still can’t wait to hear the final Kitty Underhay book though as brilliantly written by Helena Dixon.

What a Shame...
The narrator of this story has ruined a book I was really looking forward to. The previous narrator had built endearing characters which I am sure any follower of the series was very attached to. I am sad that the new narrator did not research the character profile that already existed, By changing the accents of the main characters (and in turn their social status), it really affected my enjoyment of the book.
