About this listen

A quaint English fete. A village full of secrets. A shocking murder.

In 1920s England, private detective Henry Fleming is visiting his friend, retired author Lily Riley, in the quintessentially English village of Fulbridge.

Tragedy strikes when a resident is murdered, stabbed through the heart, in the historic local church.

When an inexperienced Scotland Yard detective arrives to investigate the case, Lily is accused of the terrible crime. With no sign of a murder weapon, and no obvious motive, Fleming realises it will fall to him to prove his friend's innocence and solve the baffling case.

For fans of Poirot, Miss Marple, Columbo, Jessica Fletcher and all their wonderful whodunnit / howdunnit mysteries.

A Step Back Into A Bygone Era

The introduction made me think, what have I done but the rest of the book made me pleased I stuck with it. I can often, like a lot of people, follow the clues and make an educated guess as to the culprit, not with this author, it was a complete surprise. Once the story got underway it was a delight, not one of these very nice easy reads, where enjoyable as they are, you know it would never happen that way. Although it was a nice easy and very enjoyable listen. This book could be completely plausible because of who the main character is. Full marks to the author.

Pleasant cosy mystery read

Very pleasant read with lots of twists and turns . I had to speed up the narration as it was too slow and I would happily read more of the series but they are very short so would be better if offered in a two for one sale or borrowed from a library .

Great for getting you off to sleep!

Not one of the best books I've listened to, found it a uninspiring a bit of a non story, but a great bedtime listen soon off to sleep! Would listen to book two if free to see if they improve.

Death comes about after a fair

Plenty of red herrings in this mystery God to have an older class of suspects ingeniously resolved
