Summary

You’d think being magically tethered to the hottest warden in all Verona wouldn’t be a hardship.

You’d be wrong.

Incubus Nico Azertiran has his dream job as a cherub-in-training. It’s the perfect position for a lust demon who’s more interested in happily-ever-afters than one-night stands. Or it would be, if he didn’t keep screwing it up. When a new cherub gadget misfires, Nico is left trussed to Verona’s most eligible warden, the incredibly grumpy, Sir Flame.

Flambeau Illume has a job to do. Someone’s murdering Verona’s rich and famous, and Sir Flame’s hot on the killer’s trail...until he has the misfortune to get magically lassoed to the most infuriating incubus he’s ever had the displeasure to meet. Except, maybe Nico isn’t so terribly awful. But how can he solve his case and keep Nico safe at the same time? Especially when the sweet demon seems to have a bullseye on his back.

Together they need to solve the crime, stay alive, and - if their luck changes - maybe even fall in love. Easy, right?

Must Love Demons is part of the Magic Emporium series. Each audiobook stands alone, but each one features an appearance by Marden’s Magic Emporium, a shop that can appear anywhere, but only once and only when someone’s in dire need. This audiobook contains explicit scenes, a lariat of love, a demon tail with a mind of its own, and a guaranteed HEA.

Must Love Demons!

Loved this pnr set in alternative-world Verona inhabited by demons, cupids, shifters, wizards and all sorts of creatures.
The book is a lot of fun with a grumpy phoenix shifter getting (literally) stuck with a clumsy, wannabe-cupid, incubus. Being tied together brings all sorts of trouble, not least of which their growing attraction and burgeoning feelings toward each other.
As I said, fun and very easy and pleasant to read, but with a twist in the mystery part of the book leading to a major plot twist which left me, frankly, quite speechless.
Loved Darcy Stark’s narration. He did a really good job on this one!

I LOVE DEMONS!

I am beyond thrilled that this book has made it to audio. I first read it on KU, then bought the paperback as I wanted a physical forever copy. I’ve been on something of a book binge over the last four or so months, and have got through upwards of 200 books. Must Love Demons is definitely one of my favourites, and I am so delighted to have found Meghan Maslow.

The title caught my notice of all the kindle books recommended to me by Amazon. I had recently devoured E.J.Russell’s Mythmatched series, which has left me with a soft spot for cuddly demons. I was not left disappointed, Nico is the ultimate cuddly demon!

I thoroughly recommend that you enjoy the prequel short story In Fair Verona before embarking on Must Love Demons. Here we meet Nico, and learn more about Marden’s Magic Emporium, and how Nico came to be a cherub. We also learn how Sir Galfridus came to be in his current situation (and why we hate him).

There is so much to love in this book. Nico and Flame are just fantastic characters who are so gorgeous together. There is so much support and caring going on between these two, that you’ll end up a melted puddle of happiness :)

The world of Verona is so rich with fascinating side characters. Forced proximity leading to awkward situations, a very cheeky tail, cherubs up to no good, Flame constantly threatening to arrest everyone in sight, disappearing clothes, enough action to get your heart thumping, and a deliciously sinister plot twist. What more could you want? Oh yeah, the sex is smoking hot too ;)

Darcy Stark has been a complete revelation with his narration of these Maslow books. I have listened to a few books narrated by him in the past, and I was extremely doubtful when I first saw that he had recorded In Fair Verona. Maslow’s books are bursting with colour and energy, and I have found Darcy’s previous works pleasant but pedestrian. I was won over by his voicing of Nico, oh my gosh it’s so beautiful. I just can’t imagine Nico’s sensitivity and strength being portrayed any better. I have been bowled over by Darcy's work on Must Love Demons. I imagined that Verona would be a place teeming with a huge array of accents, and I’m so pleased that has come to life on audio. I am always impressed when a narrator sustains a foreign accent for a main character, and in this case it was both MCs with two different accents, plus numerous others among the support cast. Colour me impressed.

This was my first Maslow book, and I am hooked! I am really hoping that we get more books set in Verona. We leave Nico and Flame starting “a new chapter” as Flame puts it, and I for one, cannot wait to see what they do next. A detective/matchmaking agency?! I’m also desperate to know the stories of various side characters, especially Azrael and Raaf, Trey and Jerrill, and Pree.

If you find yourself in need of a Maslow fix, I can heartily recommend her reworking of Rumpelstiltskin: ‘Demon’s In the Details’ (yep, another cuddly demon, but a bit more bad ass than our sweet Nico) in the anthology ‘Fables Retold: An MM Urban Fantasy Anthology’ by Rhys Lawless et. al. I hope we’ll see that story make it to audio too.

I’m going to get stuck into Maslow’s Starfig Investigations series.

Happy listening!

A well written story with and interesting  concept.  The characters are likeable and the narration is very good.

Enjoyable listen

This was a good book. I’d recommend listening to the prequel novella, In Fair Verona, before listening to this as it gives a good introduction to some of the characters and settings. I’m looking forward to more from this series!

Absolutely loved it

Poor Niko couldn’t catch a break. He had a heart of gold but he was always overlooked or mistreated.

Flame was a grumpy phoenix but Niko bought out a different side of him.

Flame and Niko had a slow burn romance; it simmered for ages until everything finally exploded between them.

I was gobsmacked by the turn of events towards the end - didn’t see that coming.

Fantastic book. The characters were amazing and pulled me in instantly. The narrator’s performance was fantastic.

Cute paranormal romance

I really enjoyed this book, this is my third of the Magic Emporium. Never thought I needed a dorky and lovable Demon Incubus and a grumpy Phoenix Shifter cop combo, but apparently it hit the spot! I accidentally read it out of sequence and now catching up with Demon for the win, best read that one first.
