Summary
Electroshock therapy, child abuse, and modern-day slavery... just another day in Christine's life.
Take a heart-wrenching yet inspiring ride through one woman's incredible journey that is so compelling that you are simultaneously trying to look away and unable to stop yourself from listening on.
Christine's father is a wealthy, tyrannical man renowned in the diamond business. At the age of just five, little Christine is cast aside into a boarding school where she is ridiculed for two embarrassing problems. She grows up in a never-ending circle of traumatic experiences both in her boarding school and at home. It culminates into a falling out between father and child that was never fully mended, leading her into a world of promiscuity and alcohol, eventually landing her in a violent marriage.
Driven to the limits of despair and heartache, she creates a plan to escape her world of misery. Will her plan work?
This is a story that asks: How do you find the strength, when you suffer almost unbearable abuse and are broken beyond repair, to pick up the pieces of a shattered life?
This journey shows the tenacity of the human spirit and how the will to survive can often be hidden behind self-destructive tendencies. This beautifully written novel is an incredible inspiring true story about loss, abuse, survival, and hope.
Critic reviews
"Honestly ... I was really quite impressed. You have a from-the-heart tale that resonates. This novel is very well written, a real page turner. It's inspirational and it keeps you on the edge of your seat." (Amanda Rogers, proofreader)
"This is powerful stuff. I like your frank, no excuses yet no shame writing style. It's rare to find a script that actually has me thinking about it later. A story that strikes at a visceral level and latches onto the brain like a tick... now that's good writing." (Richard Peters, editor)

Inspirational and amazing. Drew me in and I couldn’t stop listening.
So first a confession. I am fortunate enough to know Christine, have done for nearly 10 years, so I have heard snippets of the story over the years but not too much. What I can say is the genuinely lovely lady that comes across in the book is exactly how Christine is in real life.
Hearing about the genuinely horrific events that surrounded her and her brothers Childhood sent chills through my bones, I don’t think I could have stomached what happened to them and shows a strength of character that Christine has, that few others I know have. Then hearing about her first marriage and subsequent abuse that she suffered was again horrific especially hearing how she was hospitalised.
The turn round of Christine’s life is something I know a little more of, having played in Richards band for the last 10ish years and met their Twins (you’ll hear about this in the book). However, the road she walked to get there was a mystery and the drive behind her transformation amazes me. The fact that she does this while also being one of the nicest women I know is a credit to her, her story shows her determination and quest to find love and success while grappling with the ghosts of her past.
If you don’t know Christine then this story will draw you in, capture your heart in both heartache and love as you see the blossoming of an initially repressed and downtrodden woman who realises there is a better world out there and seeks to find it, the journey she made while she found what she was looking for, showing if you believe in yourself and are prepared to put the hard work in then you’ll achieve your goals. As she says if she can do it, anyone can.
If you do know her, or partially know her like myself, then this will fill in so many gaps and give you the picture as to why Christine is the wonderful lady she is today.

Just ok
This is a long story of one persons life that I think is a bit unrealistic at times and a bit drawn out. However, this gives a positive perception of self believe and survival
