Larry Correia is the creator of the Wall Street Journal and New York Times best-selling Monster Hunter International series, with first entry Monster Hunter International, as well as urban fantasy hardboiled adventure saga The Grimnoir Chronicles, with first entry Hard Magic, and epic fantasy series The Saga of the Forgotten Warrior, with first entry Son of the Black Sword. He is an avid gun user and advocate who shot on a competitive level for many years. Kacey Ezell is a medical emergency helicopter pilot, recently retired from the USAF, who also writes sci-fi/fantasy/alt history/horror fiction. Her first novel was a Dragon Award finalist in 2018, and her stories have been featured in Baen’s Year’s Best Military and Adventure Science Fiction compilation in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, her story “Family over Blood” won the 2018 Year’s Best Military and Adventure Science Fiction Reader’s Choice Award. She writes for Baen and Chris Kennedy Publishing.

1 Allegation of an Honourable Man by Larry Correia (A) and Marc Vietor (N). The protagonist was unusual, the POV was unexpected, the hero and villains were fleshed out and what an ending?!? Then the narrator absolutely nailed the noir quality and oh my! I don't know how he conveyed a world weary feeling yet kept the pacing's pep? MV was the best narrator of this collection and he got to perform its classiest story.
2 Utopia's Sheep by Craig Martelle (A) and Marc Vietor (N). I have never read anything quite like this and was rivetted to the carefully plotted revelation. The narrator got the mood, the vibe and paced this beautifully.
3 All in the Family by Nicole G Kurtz (A) and Tim Lounibos (N). Loved the whodunnit and whydunnit of this tight, taut and fast paced story. The narrator wielded his rich voice and smoky timbre to enrich the world and vocal variety to flavour its characters. Very nice.
4 Pagan by S A Bailey (A) and Carey Hite (N). Loved the protagonist's world weariness that the narrator portrayed with self awareness and nil melancholy. This story had the best thematic discussion - is consciousness overrated?
Enjoyed:
5 Midnight Ride by Chris Kennedy (A) and Marc Vietor (N). Loved the denouement.
6 Incomparable Treasure by Rob Howell (A) and Cary Hite (N). The magic was nicely done and l appreciated the twist in the tragic ending. The narrator's charm and charisma was a huge part of my enjoyment here.
7 Storm Surge by Michael F Haspil (A) and Cary Hite (N). The idea was fabulous but let down by a dodgy story structure and unlikeable damsels. Narrator brought out his magic box though and just held my attention.
Mismatched Story and Narrator:
8 Gutter Ballet by Christopher Ruocchio (A) and Alexander Cendese (N). The narrator's brightness and personable delivery was tone deaf to the horror and noir energy of the interesting story. Pity.
Narrator Better than Story:
