another fabulous story from a classic master! Funny and sad at times. I must say, my favourite character was Mrs Wragg (cap all skew whiff!!) everyone needs a Mrs Wragg!

Being a fan of Wilkie Collins Writing I was not disappointed with this rendition except in one regard.; during the letters section Miss GArth changed her northern accent to a variety of welsh crossed with something unknown, this was very annoying. The main reader was very easy to listen to and had no such problems. A very enjoyable listen for anyone who enjoys a well written descriptive story.

To be reading a story that was written by the author in times that are very different from today, was like looking through a window into the past. I couldn’t wait to listen every day until the finish. I’m grateful to my bookclub for choosing the title

A well written compelling, if overlong story with quite a few twists. Holds enough interest to keep listeners in suspense.

Memories of Dickens who also wrote long novels and recommended to readers who have enough time to enjoy the leisurely pace.

Have listened to several Wilkie Collins books and this is every bit as good as all the others. Narration was superb too.

The narrator for this wonderful book is nothing short of a genius. He shines an individual light on all the characters in such a way as to amaze and enchant. Wilkie Collins' writing is classical and complex but so eloquent and beautiful that it carries you along in it's tide, and is a work of art in itself. The story is clever with a few lessons in life to learn along the way. I haven't quite finished it yet but couldn't wait to write a review. I loved this book!
