Summary
Peter Robinson is one of the crime world's finest stylists. This is a collection that will explore our hidden paranoia, challenge all that we take for granted, lure us to new, exotic places - only to make us wish we could run back home, and keep us up all night just waiting for the safety of the dawn.
This is the second volume of a three volume audio series.

Read and read again stories.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I am an enormous fan of Peter Robinson and have all the Inspector Banks books in one format or another. These short stories are up to his normal standard. It is a genre I particularly enjoy. Although I enjoy new books and previously unread authors I like my old friends around me to read again one day. Robinson's stories are very well-researched and informative apart from the good characterizations and plots.
I have only been using audio books for about eighteen months and realise just how important the narrator is.
What did you like best about this story?
The variety, the plots and the insight into human nature
What does Robert Glenister and David Shaw Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
They are good narrators, especially Robert Glenister. I cannot cope even with an e-reader now so the quality of audio books is very important. There is nothing as good as reading a book, especially the traditional paper sort, but I cannot fault the narration of this collection.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it was.
Any additional comments?
I am waiting for Sunday so that I can buy the third part of the collection.

Not Robinson's best work
Despite the odd interesting experiment ("The Duke's Wife" in Volume Three, for example, a short story of murder featuring the characters from Shakespeare's Measure for Measure) and brief interludes filling in the gaps between the Inspector Banks novels, this collection is a slightly disappointing one. The stories are frequently predictable, unlike the full-length Inspector Banks novels, and certainly not up to Robinson's usual standard.
Bit cheeky stretching the book over three audiobooks, too!
