About this listen

Awarded Readers' Favorite Bronze Medal for Best Fiction 2022

They banned him from space. But someone has offered him a way back. Can he afford the price? Famed engineer and test pilot Jericho Fox has been grounded for reasons he'd rather put behind him. But a political leader from a rival party offers to send him back to space.

Fox finds himself stuck between working for the enemy and doing what he loves again. Meanwhile, high above Earth on Astraea Station, decorated astrophysicist Dr. Evelyn Park is on the verge of a scientific breakthrough that could make history.

All she needs is for people and equipment to stop bungling things up. Getting both to cooperate will prove harder than she expects. From best-selling novelist Christopher Hopper, who brought you Imperium Descent, Ruins of the Earth, and Ruins of the Galaxy, and with the voice talents of Rebecca Woods and Daniel Wisniewski, comes a new hard scifi space thriller that fans say is "next in line to The Expanse."

The author knocks it out of the park with this book

So just finished oblivion awaits and I must say Christopher Hopper you sir have knocked it out of the park with this book. The world you have built is fascinating in its self, with the politicasts being almost playing as characters in the story, before you bring in the actual main players, who provide a rich tapestry of different personalities and backgrounds, and you mix and weaving their own individual strands together in such an interesting and captivating way, and on top of this then you throw in the thriller elements to the story, so you have the readers ( or listener In my case) drawn into this world and really caring for both the people in it and being concerned as to where the story is going and what will happen next. Bravo to you for writing such a fantastic novel and I cannot wait for the next instalment.. also well done to the narrators who bring the characters to life in the audiobook, they do an outstanding job, and only enhance what is already an extraordinary book. Congratulations to you and to them and the next novel cannot come soon enough.

How it should be done.

This is exactly how an audiobook should be done when there are two narrators, especially a male and a female. I was unfamiliar with both of them but happy I gave them a go.

The story is excellent and there is a book 2 that I am eagerly waiting for.
There is a website you can visit, to read more information on the characters, factions and more. There are pictures of the characters and a map you can look at as well. Definitely check that out. Really enjoyed this book give it a go.

Fantastic start to a new world

An author that I knew and trusted that could really write. Two narrators that I didn't know. What could go wrong, well in this case nothing it was brilliant.

This was a book that when you actually realise that an author you love has another series that you've completely and stupidly missed. So I started this with some trepidation as I wasn't sure if it would hold a candle to other books from this author, then you realise that you've got another great one. A fantastic new world to learn and explore and some great characters to get to know.

On top the narration was done with some panache and style by two narrators that completely nailed the story and made it so easy to follow. Well edited and good production.

Can't wait to get to book 2.

WOW

A new series ....
A new start ....

I was absolutely enthralled by this story , this is the start of a new series and by the Lord Harry it looks like it's going to be a cracker !!

Great character development and world building - which is always a struggle in a first book of a totally new series - but it in no way detracts from a wonderful plot for the book but also there is just a tantalising glimpse of "plots within plots within plots" - I love a series with a multi layered plot and this has all the makings of a great one !

The voice actors really bring the characters to life and despite there not being "the big beasts" of the voice acting world they deliver a flawless performance breathing an extra dimension into Christopher Hoppers protagonists and antagonists , they are to be commended !

The narrative is well paced and I did not "feel" the books length at all as I was drawn into the mystery and intrigue of the world.

my only criticism is that I only had FIVE stars to give - this book is truly worth all five and more !!

I recommend this book without hesitation !

settle back , relax , grab a mojito and strap in for a wild ride !!!!

What do you mean, you haven't heard this yet....!

The master of Ruins of the Galaxy and Ruins of the Earth series smashes it once again.

With a brilliant two-handed reading of the book brings us a beautifully crafted world ( and off-world ) and the lives that are intertwined. Like a delicious meal, it builds on the senses to deliver a beautiful experience.

I am waiting with bated breath for the next installment.
