A pleasant surprise
I ignored this book for some time, due to the blurb. It just seemed like a silly thing he'd written in between projects or something.
Well, I got bored and I bought it, because he is one of my favorite authors so why not.
It was bloody brilliant. You start the book, you think you see where he's going and it's kind of obvious and is it going to be ham fisted but of course it's not, because it's Adrian and it's brilliant yet familiar because it's just so damn human.
I think Adrian's books will be considered classic literature 100-200 years from now. Well, some of them anyway.

Very good!
A very good story that starts simple but gets more and more complex. Very good, thoroughly enjoyable. Another win for Adrian Tchaikovsky!

Complex, worth reading definitely, but not for me. Maybe.
Second person narration is something that I struggle to enjoy in any book, this one is no different but it's there for a reason, a very good reason.
The book is short so what the author does in that time is brilliant, consistent world, great characters, fantastic plot, superb twists. But I just didn't enjoy it, in places it was a real struggle.
I couldn't help but draw some painful similarity between the book and 2024 in Britain and the world either, some real world characters dropped right in to some of the book roles!
I'd urge you to read this, just because it doesn't suit me, might mean you love it, many do. I'll probably read it again myself!
