About this listen

Somebody once told a joke.

A man ran in place all his life. He worked a job he didn't love for people he couldn't stand. But at the end of the day, the number in his bank account went up.

That man got a second chance at life. He woke up in another world, one full of adventures and romances and monsters and gods. And floating above his head, he saw the number "1".

So what did he say?

"Gosh, I better make the number go up."

Not today. Not for this old soul. Reborn as a beast of battle meant to live a short life and die screaming, Garek refuses. He puts the madness of skills and levels behind him and sets out to found a little farmstead. He grows crops. Maybe someday he'll get a pig and have bacon.

It's a shame the world won't let him be. It's a shame that the warmongers and level-grinders hate nothing more than a soul at peace.

He put down his sword for a plowshare, but when trouble comes calling, he'll pick it up again.

Was hoping for something more like Beware of Chicken and was sad to realize this wasn't going to be like it. That said, it was still a fairly enjoyable read. Just wish we could get a farming isekai where there was actual focus on farming while still being interesting and enjoyable.

Not what I had hoped for but not bad overall.

loved the idea of a man waking up in someone else's body, in this case, a minotaur. and after seeing what he's become, decides to live out the peaceful life as a farmer, leaving his bodies former owners war-torn past behind him. the story is great, the voice actor also does a great job bringing these characters to life. very much left me looking forward to the next book in the series.

loved it

(sorry for the pun) Among a genre that has many overpowered characters, this story stands out excellently by Humanising the protagonist, and making his struggles relatable even in their absurdity.
the story features an excellent roll of characters, all likeable in their own ways, or bringing something to the stor, fantastic action, and a Narator that knows his business well in Jonathan Keeble.
God's and tyrants should tremble when a good man (Minotaur) goes to war.

I really enjoyed this book! Despite having read many Isekai stories and fear this might be a another generic story, it kept me engaged throughout. Great characters and interesting background story, no harem, and no main character making irrational decisions to forward the plot. The narration was one of the better I have listened to so far. The voice fit the minotaur perfectly and I am looking forward to reading the second book. Would definitely recommend it!

engaging story, fantastic narration

Didn't have high expectations but i ended up really enjoying the characters and the story. Good mix between full on action and serene farming isekai. I will definitely get the next installment and can't wait to find out what's next.

Positively surprised.

A pretty fun read, MC just wants to farm and experiment with monster plants and people just won't leave the poor guy alone

I bought this book on a whim and I am very glad I did! Although a litrpg\isekai novel, there are few elements of this in the book, no 10 minute long read out of stats just short, precise "go to sleep to level up, you have new skills available."
The world and character building is good, great even.
The narration is excellent, never heard of the narrator before but I will be looking for other books he has read!
I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
