About this listen
From the legendary New York Times best-selling author of Only a Kiss and Only a Promise comes the final book in the rapturous Survivor's Club series - as the future of one man lies within the heart of a lost but never-forgotten love....
For the first time since the death of his wife, the Duke of Stanbrook is considering remarrying and finally embracing happiness for himself. With that thought comes the treasured image of a woman he met briefly a year ago and never saw again.
Dora Debbins relinquished all hope to marry when a family scandal left her in charge of her younger sister. Earning a modest living as a music teacher, she's left with only an unfulfilled dream. Then, one afternoon, an unexpected visitor makes it come true.
For both George and Dora, that brief first encounter was as fleeting as it was unforgettable. Now is the time for a second chance. And while even true love comes with a risk, who are two dreamers to argue with destiny?

Great read
For a moment I found Dora a bit tedious… but the story just kept getting better and better.
Great ending for a beautiful series

George is confusing.
Through reading the previous books, you are told how George loved his wife and child. Then you learn he was married to a much older pregnant woman at seventeen. Was married for eighteen years, never bedded his wife. Still, he feels guilty for bedding another woman, when his wife becomes pregnant yet again, by her longterm lover.
The heroine has long given up on the idea of marriage, so suddenly being offered a marriage of companionship to a man she likes, makes sense.
George has decided to marry the heroine and have someone personal and just for him, in his life. Having spent years avoiding the "real truth" about his previous marriage. They are now forced to face the reality, as it come crashing down on them.
I am not sure whether George is a Saint or a Fool. Loving a child is understandable, even not wishing your wife's death. However living a lie with your true friends, who have shared everything with you, seems unacceptable.
