Stephen Fry is an English actor, screenwriter, author, playwright, journalist, poet, comedian, television presenter, film director and all-round national treasure. As half of the comic double act Fry and Laurie, he co-wrote and co-starred in A Bit of Fry & Laurie and Jeeves and Wooster. Fry’s acting roles include Blackadder, Kingdom, Bones, V for Vendetta, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and The Hobbit trilogy. He has written and presented several documentary series and as a proudly out gay man, the award-winning Out There, documenting the lives of lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender people around the world is part of his 30-year advocacy of the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Fry has written four novels: The Liar, The Hippopotamus (made in to a feature film in 2018), Making History and The Stars’ Tennis Balls. Translated into many languages, they have never been out of print. The most recently published works are Mythos, Heroes and Troy, a trilogy retelling the Greeks myths from the Creation to the aftermath of the Trojan War.

A Tour de Force by Stephen Fry and P.G.W.!

An exhaustive collection of Blandings and related stories, perfectly delivered by the seemingly inexhaustible Stephen Fry!

Wodehouse & Fry

This might be the best paired author and narrator you could possibly hope for! I could listen to Mr Fry speaking the beautifully crafted words of Wodehouse all day, everyday.

Its more about Fry than Wodehouse

Fry injects life into anything and everything he tackles; this is vintage Fry - and is quality stuff.
His vocalisations of the characters are famously terrific, so that even indifferent material is given a boost - and so it is here, which I myself don't see as particularly vintage Wodehouse.
But even non vintage Wodehouse is still head and shoulders above the scribblings of the herd, of which he is certainly not a member. To quote Mr B. Wooster, Wodehouse "stands alone".

Mr Fry.

I have been recovering from a hip replacement and I’ve had to spend a long time without going out. This was depressing and boring me. Listening to Mr Fry read the beautiful prose by Mr Wodehouse amused me and uplifted me with his use of transferred epithets and other beautiful uses of the language. I particularly liked his references to golf and its happy niblicks.

Wonderful as only The Master can be

I'm a lifelong devotee of Wodehouse and envy anyone who is embarking on their first read. I was worried that Fry wouldn't do him justice, but I needn't have. He read these works so well, I shall be listening again and again. His love for Wodehouse and enjoyment of his language shines through. Superb!

Wonderful.

I’ve read Wodehouse so often and with such pleasure I was unsure whether I’d be comfortable with someone else’s characterisation, even if that someone else is Stephen Fry. But it’s all read brilliantly by someone who patently loves Wodehouse and all the brilliant characters that genius invented. Listening to this was, alone, worth all the months of Audible subscriptions.

Brilliant. Thank you.

Stephen Fry reading these PG Woodhouse stories is wonderful. By just the slightest inclination he manages to produce different sounds for all of the incredible amazing characters and brings out PG Woodhouse’s dry and quick wit.
These readings have sustained me during recent lockdowns and I can’t wait for Mr frys next blockbuster.

Wodehouse & Fry part two, a match made in heaven!

There is nothing new to be said about Wodehouse's stories: they are a fantastic blend of delightful prose and excellent comedy!

Stephen Fry is the best narrator of these stories that I've ever listened to (and I've listened to quite a few different ones in my time). He truly seems to relish his performance, so listening to him is a real pleasure.

My only slight criticism of this otherwise admirable collection has to do with the choice of material. Since this is the first Blandings Castle collection, I would have expected the first and second Blandings stories ('Something Fresh' and 'Leave It to Psmith") to be included, especially since an event that takes place in the latter is often mentioned in some of the included stories.

Brilliant

Brilliant, witty and charming. Hearing the stories told from different character perspectives is also amusing and the stories become funnier the more you get to understand the characters. I loved every minute.
