Summary
Callum had seen things all his life. There are monsters and beasts living among people, but he learned very early not to admit such things, not if he didn’t want people to think him crazy.
It turns out that the supernatural is real, but at 30, Callum has no desire to be part of that secret. Not that he has a choice when it turns out he is a mage, albeit one that hasn’t cast any spells in all his life. There are requirements, duties, and education that the powers that be insist he be subject to.
To hell with that.
An urban fantasy and magical realism story with a healthy dash of genre subversion.

Love this 🥰
The way this main character thinks is what makes this amazing. He thinks outside what most think is common sense and does things his way. I love characters like this that break the mould and show you something different. Apparently you cant get any extra credit before your first 30 days of signing up? So gonna have to wait until I purchase the next one 😱😭

Really Excellent book
No spoilers, only want to say that this is one of the best books I have listened to in a very long time. Easily as good as "He who Fights with Monsters".
I really want book 2 in audio format but will have to read it instead for now.
Well done and please can we have more ?.

good book
it started off a bit weak in my opinion, but got better as I got into it, to the point where I couldn't stop listening.

Really great book!
Quality book! Narration was good, story was great! Picking up the second one instantly. If you're on the fence about picking this up. I'd definitely recommend getting it.

Good story but very fast character progression
This is a great story with an amazing premise. However, for someone who's been unaware of mage life his whole life then to revolutionise certain aspects surprises me. He is commonly referred to someone at the arch mage level after several months of training. Either he's a peerless mage with talents surpassing gods or he's just a bit OP. Nonetheless, this book contains an interesting story and the cliff hanger ending sure makes me want to read the second in the series.

A sort of magical Bourne Identity
Not the best written ever, but a some great ideas.
A interesting world where the protagonist is sort of dropped into and needs to figure things out, using the skills he has.
Only some moments were what the protagonist becomes a little hard to follow in what he can and cannot do.
Unfortunately, I find Jeremy's narration a little too nasal and 'sharp' in tone of voice.

Unintentionally funny
when I say it's funny it's because the side characters think the MC is some kind of John Wick kind of character who works from a shadow organisation who have access to restricted means of magic when in reality it's just some dude with extreme paranoia basically winging it. I love it, already bought book 2.

wow, just wow
the main character knows he could be OP and is trying to get there, but it is just amazing how he deals with the fact that he lacks the ability at the moment, and just how incompetent the people in charge are.
control over space isn't offensive my ass.
